PETA Rips 'Trollsen Twins' for $17,000 Fur Backpack: Are You on Team PETA or Team Olsen?

The Olsen twins have created another unbelievably expensive backpack -- and this time, they've managed to incur the wrath of PETA. The People for Ethical Treatment of Animals slammed the "Trollsen Twins" for the almost $17,000 fur backpack they designed for their fashion line, The Row.

"If it looks like a troll and acts like a troll, it's probably a Trollsen Twin -- or someone wearing one of their new $16,000 totes, which are made from the fur and skins of innocent animals," PETA said in a statement to E! News. "What the Olsens lack in creativity, they try to make up for in shock value. Sadly, it's the foxes, calves, and alligators -- who often have the fur ripped off them while they are still conscious and able to feel pain -- who pay the dearest price."

Despite the price -- and the pain -- stylist-to-the-stars Rachel Zoe called the accessory "next season's staple item." We're not sure how many schoolkids can afford an almost $17,000 backpack, but we guess they're out there ... Do you think PETA was too hard on the Olsen twins? Or right on the money?

hmm,, meat has been a staple of man for tens of thousands of years, in fact I do believe it was the protien from meat that spurred the devolpment of the Neanderthal brain ..
so , do not care much for whether it touches you or not, it is a fact..

beef is good, pork is good, bacon is good...

I realize that Neanderthals ate meat... but you were simply drooling like a glutton in your previous comment. You could have just explained that instead of going "hmmm hmmm hmmm goooooooood". I was a bit confused.

    Mmm, I don't wear either.
I don't feel the need to.

Not true. The scientists at the South Pole don't wear fur coats... there are plenty of synthetic materials that are warmer than fur. Maybe 200 years ago, fur was the warmest material but not anymore. Try doing some research, you might learn something.

Animals are used for their meat and their fur. God gave man dominion over the animals. To eat, to use their fur for clothing, their fat to burn in lanterns, etc. Using animals for these things is blessed by God and is His divine plan.
I believe, however, that morons who torture animals for their own amusement, have a special corner of Hell reserved for them

Not any more, since God created electricity and light bulbs. I have rendered bear fat to make candles however.
  • GrumpyCat Brother Bo 2012/07/02 02:07:29
    Thomas Edison invented light bulbs.

Again, Thomas Edison was not exactly an inventor. He was just a very good business man. He was a greedy evil man. Your statement is thus false.
  • Villa n... GrumpyCat 2012/07/02 20:44:54
    Villa nilla
Actually, historically speaking, Thomas Edison took the patent of the light bulb from another inventor and just commercialized it for mass production. Thomas Edison wasn't much of an inventor, he was a businessman. Nikola Tesla made heavier contributions to humanity and society, also in the fact that Tesla was an animal lover and Edison used to torture animals for the sake of money.
  • GrumpyCat Villa n... 2012/07/02 21:54:30

Yea, I should have said Tesla... but I really wasn't willing to go into that argument. But I really am thankful that you take the time to tell people who really contributed to the invention of the light bulb. I am not being sarcastic, truly, thank you.

    That's no problem! :-)
  • Donnie Villa n... 2012/07/03 19:14:36
thought true Edison did not invent the light bulb he did improve upon it, then patented it and marketed it.

What's wrong with using the meat and the fur?
  • émilie✿ Drachen 2012/07/01 01:04:45
    Completely reasonable there :)
  • Drachen émilie✿ 2012/07/01 01:05:43
I believe I can understand where you are coming from now. You disagree with killing animals JUST for fur, right?

I hardly doubt they do that... though I may be wrong.
  • émilie✿ Drachen 2012/07/01 01:13:00
    Exactly :)

    I certainly hope they don't.. :/
  • SuperTr... Drachen 2012/09/05 22:34:06

What, like synthetics and fake fur that are made out of chemicals and plastic, which damage the environment by how they're produced anyway?
  • V~POTL~... émilie✿ 2012/06/30 17:13:06
I agree that it is wasteful and unnecessary to use animal fur if there is no use for the meat. Bear in mind, most leather products are made from animals that were bred and killed for food.
  • Donnie émilie✿ 2012/07/03 19:07:13
but what are we to do with all that left over skin after we take the meat off the bones. maybe we could put it through a process that turns it into leather, kind of like what we do. yes yes i know there are some that are killed for the fur but then usual the meat it given to be processed into something.
  • émilie✿ Donnie 2012/07/03 22:46:54
If both the meat and skin are being used, then I have no objections.
It's only when they solely kill for fur/skin that I have a problem,
  • Tentime... Drachen 2012/06/29 23:37:51
Useing sarcasm as a way to pass your pathetic opinion of people who care. Did she say anything wrong? Or do you just enjoy sucking the joy out of people. Seeing as you don't care, you probably don't know what it feels when some jerk (aka people like you) run over you for trying to be nice. Now that I think aboutit, some one as shallow as you wouldn't have empathy, your just imperfect that way, so I'm guessing you were just jelouse that someone with an opposing opinion to yours got top comment.
  • Drachen Tentime... 2012/06/30 01:41:29

Please bore someone else. And stop using that dumbass SodaHead argument that I'm jealous of someone who got top comment.
