PETA Rips 'Trollsen Twins' for $17,000 Fur Backpack: Are You on Team PETA or Team Olsen?

The Olsen twins have created another unbelievably expensive backpack -- and this time, they've managed to incur the wrath of PETA. The People for Ethical Treatment of Animals slammed the "Trollsen Twins" for the almost $17,000 fur backpack they designed for their fashion line, The Row.

olsen twins peta

"If it looks like a troll and acts like a troll, it's probably a Trollsen Twin -- or someone wearing one of their new $16,000 totes, which are made from the fur and skins of innocent animals," PETA said in a statement to E! News. "What the Olsens lack in creativity, they try to make up for in shock value. Sadly, it's the foxes, calves, and alligators -- who often have the fur ripped off them while they are still conscious and able to feel pain -- who pay the dearest price."

Despite the price -- and the pain -- stylist-to-the-stars Rachel Zoe called the accessory "next season's staple item." We're not sure how many schoolkids can afford an almost $17,000 backpack, but we guess they're out there ... Do you think PETA was too hard on the Olsen twins? Or right on the money?

You're older than my grandmother, I'm not gonna sit here and fight with you, even though you have no problem trying to insult a young girl almost 50 years younger than you...

Which ever is cheaper. Like I said to my vet when my cat was sick, "Which is cheaper? Killing it or curing it?" Sorry, Fluffy.

What's the point of having a pet then? If its suffering and the humane thing to do is put it down then good for you.

When they get too expensive, the humane thing to do is ease the suffering of my bank account.

I'm going to go out and buy my wife a Russian Sable Mink coat (a small one) and buy myself a Whopper from BK. I'll have (animal fat) fries with that.

  • Bill Nikki<3 2012/07/09 12:05:51

Nope. I keep my weight down so I can have more burgers & FF's and steaks and other things that reside in the animal kingdom.
I, however, do not just restrict my diet to the above. I do on occasion kill and eat potatoes, peas, carrots, etc. The poor innocent things. I can hear the potato hissing and screaming in the microwave but there is nothing I can do about it. It has to be done. Sometimes I actually pull the skin off of the potato while it is alive and make a coat out of it. Sorry if that offends your sensibilities but I need warmth during the fall and winter.

I respect people who aren't slaves to 'fashion' and have moral character. Most of Hollywood doesn't fit into that category. If you hunt and use every part of the animal because you respect nature and don't want to waste it, I don't have a problem with it. But this is obviously not the case. Wearing dead animals out of necessity, is very different from wearing them to show how rich you are. It's disgusting to flaunt wealth.

What's the problem? The fur goes to the rich and the meat goes to Chinese restaurants. No waste there.

Peta doesn't love animals as much as they claim they do and are hypocrites to boot! Plus many Peta members are looney people that wouldn't blink an eye to kill a fellow human/treat them bad/allow them to die. Sorry but I have to go with the Olsen twins even if I hate to do. Really we should all be conservatists in practice that recycle what we can, if we have to kill an animal that is safe to eat than we should use as much of the animal as possible, and only kill what we will use and harvest only the crops that we will eat/use.

I'm a strict vegetarian and fight for the rights of all animals because I believe we are all equal creatures and dislike the fact that the Olsen twins made a fur bag, but I will NEVER support PETA! Never.

Did you know that they equate owning a pet to owning a slave?
  • Melody Kibbles 2012/07/02 02:50:34
    Melody
Haha, wow, cause dogs and cats even know that they are "in captivity."
If they think humans and other animals are equal, then why don't they shed their clothes and go live in the wild like their furry friends?? Haha
  • Kibbles Melody 2012/07/02 02:53:23
    Kibbles
Exactly, most of their tactics are now ridiculous guilt tactics. They're turning a conscious choice into a guilt trip.

Yeah, or at least trying to. I don't feel guilty at all. Sure, I like free range, un messed-with meats, but I'm not going to suggest that I am on the same level as cattle and birds. I have three cats, two of whom were rescued. Tell me how that is owning a slave haha

My mother babies the hell out of her dog, honestly that thing is in paradise right now, she laughed hard when she heard that apparently her baby was a slave.

Be a little more "whip" friendly. They'll learn more quickly. When I walk in a room where they are I say, "Bow to your master" in a deep Darth Vader voice and they do. Perfect slaves. Screw PETA.

LOL I know what you mean. Sometimes, mine wet the floor when I grab the whip. They do that when I just walk in the room too. I'm going to call PETA and ask them how to stop this kind of behavior.
