Pepsi is adding a new drink type to its arsenal: the fat-blocking cola. This new fiber-infused drink, called the "Pepsi Special" contains dextrin, a fiber that distributor Suntory claims helps reduce fat levels in the body. This is Pepsi’s first venture into the "healthy" cola market. Do you think it actually works?

Pepsi Soda and healthy aren’t exactly synonymous, but Pepsi-Cola in Japan is trying to change that with a new fiber-infused drink. Dubbed the “Pepsi Special,” the soft drink set to go on sale Tuesday contains dextrin, a fiber that distributor Suntory claims helps reduce fat levels in the body.

Oh what silly stuff they come up with.. Is it healthy? Can you drink it and not get rotten teeth? Thereis prob ppl that will believe that but a fizzy drink that makes you skinny.. Hmm it's called exersize

fat blocking yes the sodium can eat the fat away but also eat away at your veins. sounds like cancer in a bottle to me.

These days many sodas are artificial enough without these additives.

No it'll probably make you gain it just like diet drinks do. It 's better to just avoid sodas all together and just drink water & jucie but never ones that say unconcentrated because they make you gain weight as well. Eat well & exercise is the only best &sure; way to lose weight all thise pills and surgerysjust don't cut it to well

They are just trying to sell more products so they had to come up with another gimmick that people will buy. I use to drink Pepsi but not anymore. I am now Dr. Pepper:

Im just going to eat healthy in moderation and exercise. I dont believe in weird diet tricks.
Ive decided to indulge in the ocassional exercise gadget maybe but Im staying away from
GNC and all other concotions.

This is insanity .Pepsi ,and the others have been flooding the market lately with all types of variations of their product .I prefer Pepsi One, because of no sugar ,and the taste isn't bad. It all depends on what you eat along with that soda, like potato chips ,french fries, that make the difference.

Omitting all carbonated drinks from your diet will help you lose fat. Drinking a special carbonated drink will not.

If it slows down the fat producing process in some tiny way while you're drinking hundreds of empty calories then whats the point?
Is there a diet pepsi version of this?

And you just have to wonder if this stuff tastes nasty.
Japan prefers different tastes for junk/fast foods.

I seriously doubt that this soda will work. I'm sure plenty of people will buy it though, anything to help you lose weight without effort. I am a major Pepsi fanatic - I drink at least a 6 pack a day, but I am also super picky and like the original, regular Pepsi flavor. I personally might try it once but doubt I'll be a regular customer.

PS: Interesting factoid: I live in New Bern, NC which is the birthplace of Pepsi, a local pharmacist developed the recipe. There's a really cool memorial downtown and a Pepsi shop in the original location.

At first I was thinking "This is a joke right?" but as I read and realized it's the Japans who are up to making another extreme invention, I say it's a great move forward. lol

If it's coming from Japan, (the little country that keeps coming up with ideas that makes talking animals seems logically possible) I think it's gonna be good.

It's just another quick fix. Even if one were to lose weight drinking this, they'd gain it right back (and then some) if they didn't change their diet/exercise habits overall.
