People who believe in gun rights, the bible, and white are racists!!!!!

*Mahogany Goddess of P.H.A.E.T 2012/01/14 18:49:21
I was thinking about some of the stereotypes I hear about people on and off Soda Head. Stereotypes whether positive or negative, always leaves a stigma in society. So far I have been, talking about those beliefs and today I want to talk about the stigma attached to being a White Christian's who believe in gun rights and are influenced by the bible.

I have friends on and outside of SH, who are Christians of European descent and many of them are good people. From Lee, to Bessie; or even my uncle Drew and Bob, stereotypes only serve to condemn or congratulate a whole group of people. It does a disservice to the individual and a disservice to Humankind as a whole.

Most people who throw around the word "racist" don't know there is a difference between, Bigot, Racist and Prejudice. They just toss out the word "racist" because it has a negative context in today's society. The problem is that when you call someone a racist, you lose all credibility with the people you are talking with. When I hear "Racist" coming out of someone's mouth, it tells me they have no mind of their own, and they then become invisible to me

And behold a certain lawyer stood up, tempting him, and saying, Master, what must I do to possess eternal life?

But he said to him: What is written in the law? how readest thou?

He answering, said: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind: and thy neighbor as thyself

And he said to him: Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

But he willing to justify himself, said to Jesus: And who is my neighbor?

And Jesus answering, said: A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, who also stripped him, and having wounded him went away, leaving him half dead.

And it chanced, that a certain priest went down the same way: and seeing him, passed by. In like manner also a Levite, when he was near the place and saw him, passed by. But a certain Samaritan being on his journey, came near him; and seeing him, was moved with compassion. And going up to him, bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine: and setting him upon his own beast, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. And the next day he took out two pence, and gave to the host, and said: Take care of him; and whatsoever thou shalt spend over and above, I, at my return, will repay thee.

That's why bashing all Islamist is wrong also. Not everyone agrees with the terrorists just like here we don't all agree on certain issues. I think radicalism is a minority wherever it is practiced. The bad thing is when the non-violent become apathetic and don't stand up against it just like the Germans were lulled into Nazism. There are far too many here accepting what they are told instead of studying the actions taken by those in charge.

"...stereotypes only serve to condemn or congratulate a whole group of people."

Pretty much said it all with that. All politics, religion - categories etc. - aside, you just can't box other people into nice neat packages like that. We as individuals, however, can and often do box ourselves in voluntarily. It's such a seductive mode of thought - and often more destructive to self than anyone else. It's so much easier, and less painful to better oneself / free mind - than to indulge the illusion of being better than someone else.

The trouble with stereotypes is that people perpetuate and facilitate them. People are people and typically everyone does some kind of job in categorizing themselves.

I agree that Lee and Bessie rock – wanted to chime in and say that. Here's my answer, though, in addition:

Thinking that people who believe in gun rights, the Bible and are who are White are prejudiced is prejudiced.
answer addition thinking people gun rights bible white prejudiced prejudiced

This problem is compounded, of course, by the fact that half the people who sling this epithet have no idea what it means--or at the very least have confused racism with bigotry.

Before you ask, yes, I read your post. And it is just the opposite of your headline, so, what you seem to be doing is lighting a fuse, but pulling it out of the powder before it can blow. The first thought of a "White Gun owning Christian" is, "What a Racist statement!" Then you try to de-fuse it with your post...which doesn't quite put the fire out. In addition to being a "White Christian Gun Owner", we also have an adopted mixed race Daughter who is the love of our life. I think anyone who makes blanket statements like that are really the RACISTS ones!

Why do you think it is the opposite of the headline? The question reflects what some perceive inaccurately of an entire group and I believe the info presented does put out the fire.

People are people. Same circulatory systems, same basic brains, same neurological tendencies, same bones and muscles and waterworks and sex organs. Skin of many different shades depending on if your ancestors came from sunny countries or cloudy rainy areas. Why do we have to keep discussing the differences and not focus on the similarities. Sorry too many big words for those who already have opinions formed.

I am glad to see this posted poll ..
For this is a topic that needs to be discussed ..

In all my years of life ..
in all the decades I've lived upon this Earth ..

    in so many ways ..

it is very much with a sense of SADNESS ..
that I find that so many ..
are STILL solely focused on "SURFACE" ..
STILL (in this day and age) ..

it does NOTHING to advance the Human condition ..
to solely concentrate .. focus .. on SURFACE
(with labels .. oh, my .. those surface labels) ..
pidgeon-holing one here .. there .. all because of 'look' ..

    when in reality ..
IF only one would close their eyes ..
(just for a bit of time ... perhaps even a single day) ..
    and LISTEN .. hear .. know .. experience ..
    the BEAUTY within ..
    the Spirit .. mind/intelligence .. the talents/gifts ..
the tones of the words .. the way the words are used ..

to EXPERIENCE what it truly means to 'SEE' the WHOLE person ..

one would truly SEE the beauty within ..
and that would go far to acceptance of all ..
    as HUMAN Beings ..
    (living peacefully with each other)

This was done so the KKK raiders couldn't be shot.

JESUS was a interracial baby and had mixed blood. People need to read the bible . Racism is stupid.
Notably, Jesus is mixed with 4 different things maybe more. . Tamara was a Canaanite; Ruth a Moabite, Rehab of Jericho, and Bath Sheeba, through her husband, a Hittite. Book of Matthew clears things up. body of christ

So right, so wrong but true. Stereotyping is wrong when you talk about people. We are individuals good, bad, lovable, dislikeable etc. Look at the individuals please. That homeless person on the street might be a wonderful human being who took the wrong path. I've taken care of veterans of several wars who were college professors and priests and had sunk to drunks or lost people living on the streets of Los Angeles.

Gun rights, the Second Amendment, was meant to keep the people safe from the government. Everyone at the Constitutional Convention had guns because they all hunted for their food. This had nothing to do with that. From their experiences in Europe and from history, they knew that an unarmed population makes it much easier for tyranny to take hold. We saw it in the 20th Century via Hitler's Nazi Party, for example. Gun registration became mandatory, then the government knew where to go to confiscate those guns and disarm the population. Criminals will always find a way to have weapons just like people drank during Prohibition.
Yes, I am white and I believe in The Bible. I think Second Amendment rights have nothing to do with my race or religion; they are separate issues.
I forgot about the racist part. The only people I discriminate against are intolerable, mean people. Race? We are all part of the human race!

People can have prejudices about other people, whether it be race, color, creed, religion, whatever. The difference between unethical people and otherwise is if those people act out their prejudices. Most people are filled with prejudices and stereotypical beliefs. The question is as an individual is whether You realize it or not. If you do, you aren't likely to try to harm others based on a prejudice. Not all prejudices are incorrect though, we make discriminations...choices....... everyday of our lives.

The word is so misused and overused that its meaning is all but forgotten. Having preconceived notions or stereotypical beliefs doesn't make anyone a racist, well unless you spread the blood libel against the Jewish People, i.e. they steal Gentile babies for Passover, drain their blood and make pastries for Passover. Or that they are a sneaky, conniving cabal controlling the world and the white house.

But here is the kicker, everyone gets discriminated against in some way or form. The ironic thing is many don't connect the dots; politicians really are geniuses. If you discriminate against black people with, housing, jobs; but then discriminate against white people with affirmative action, it creates the perfect set up. Both sides believe the other is getting the best out of them, when in reality; it's just not true.

Oh, that's really good! I'm always glad to hear someone else say that! You are so right. "They" are playing us against each other which creates the perfect environment for their political arena. Why everyone does not see this is beyond me! The worst thing that could happen in this country as far as the government is concerned is for enough people to get along and stop bickering between ourselves and turn our full attention on the gov., the worst-case scenario for politicians!
