People Born With Tails

Did you know? There are 12 million people on the planet right now living with vestigial tails, long hairless extensions of the spine that appear to serve no purpose. Scientists are unsure what causes them, but theories range from birth defects, a mutation by chance, a hidden gene, or some remnant of an evolutionary process.

They aren't "unsure" what it is.
It IS a dormant gene that have been accidentally activated.
The dormant gene comes from our ancestors long ago who had tails.
We all still got the tailbone though.

Does anyone know if a person has control over their tail?

There is a man in India who has a vestigial tail with normal skin, grows hair, and is able to move it around as he pleases.

This is really interesting. Is there such a thing as a tail that grows inward? Internally not on the exterior?

No.. It is found in all races. The celebrity Ke$ha has shared with the public that she was born with a vestigial tail (which was removed after her birth of course).

How does anyone know that our ancestors had tails? Are there fossilized remains of one of our ancestors with tails? And why would the gene be returning anyways?

Good question about fossilized remains of our ancestors with tails. I think there is more than one good reason why a person would or could have a tail.

i think anyone who has nothing nice to say should then keep it to themselves think how you would feel if things you said were said to you...this world is amazing and so are most the people in it

I think people are kind of ignorant to assume that people with tails have a "defect". The majority always wants to assume their is something wrong with the minority and that people who are different from them have a problem. We are all different and that's what makes us great. We should not have to "remove" or "hide" our differences. Maybe people would not be so squeamish about people with tails if they were accepted and it was common knowledge. I'm sure everyone can find something about their body that other people might consider weird.

Exactly. Maybe the anatomy of you're "everyday" person isn't normal at all, and the other people's "defects" are what was meant to be normal! All y'all who say that it's disgusting or wrong to be born with a tail better watch out cause next ya know y'all are gonna be the only ones with out a tail, or a third foot. Wait till you're "disgusting".

I think it is a recessive gene that was reactivated. Evolution can take steps backward, after all. I almost wish I had a tail to help me balance.

I love it! I am very interested about people as born with tails, specially rat tails. It is so interseting, and I want to have a rat tail. I love rats and I love human-rats. We are relatives with rats for long time ago. So human-rats is evolution, and we can born with rat tails today too.
