Polydactyly or polydactylism is the condition when a lifeform is born with extra toes or fingers and, even though most of the time this results in a useless appendage with no bones, sometimes subjects are born with fully formed extra digits. Polydactylism has been observed in mammals, reptiles, and amphibians and is thought to be caused by mutations in single genes, not heredity (meaning that anyone can give birth to a child with polydactylism). The odds of being born with the condition are only one in five-hundred meaning that everyone probably knows at least one person with a little something extra.

My stepmom only has nine, due to a horrible accident as a child, but one would think if one only had to put on nine tips, the materials cost and time is less, so she should get a discount. I bet that same manicurist would change her "set of hands" tune if someone with 12 fingers came in.

I feel bad for people who are born this way. It makes me appreciate my own body even more. I know my body is a long way from perfect, but I can still appreciate what God has given me. I've never seen anyone or heard of this condition before. I'm grateful my own kids were born healthy!

God is right. He said that the earth would be in sin and imperfection because man disobeyed. Blame Satan and Adam, not God. We have enough cloudy buck passing in congress, let's not start it here too.

I had an extra finger. It was removed at birth. Only the scar remains. I wish I had it now to slap somebody with!
