People ask why such a violent symbol, the cross/crucifix, is the primary symbol of Christianity, but were you aware that is was designed to mock and to taunt the Roman establishment at the time?

The Jesus I love is not on the cross. The cross is empty along with the tomb. Jesus is alive and well at the right hand of the Father. You may not believe it now, but you will soon, at His return, eh?

Will wear a cross not a cricifix. The Romans thought the last time they would see Jesus was on the cross. They also knew that he rose.

Actually the empty cross is factually incorrect since the cross beam would have been taken down when the body was removed. I would hope you don't need a reminder of a cross to constantly be reminded that Christ rose from the dead. That's the foundation of the entire religion. The crucifix is a reminder of the sacrifice and of the suffering. It was also used to taunt the Roman establishment of the time.

Where is the taunt info coming from?

From the early followers of the new religion known as Christianity. It was taunting the Roman establishment. Crucifixion was used to demonstrate the power of the state. The Christians, using the crucifix/cross symbol were saying that their God was powerful than Caesar.

It isn't in scripture. Why would that be in scripture?

You wouldn't see any scripture if it wasn't for the Catholic Church.

Did you know that being called a "Christian" was originally intended as an insult?

The "Christians" called themselves "Saints". They were called (by others) "Christians" first at Antioch. Acts 11:26

It's the same as people call people who believe the Book of Mormon is also the word of God "Mormons". And they say all sorts of untrue things about what we believe. The Book of Mormon is not our Bible, the King James Translation is our Bible. We do not worship Joseph Smith, or any prophet.

They did the same thing to the early Christians - and some are still doing it.

As a Christian, I view the cross as a symbol of what I deserved, and what Jesus did in my place.

the crucifix is a roman catholic symbol not a christian symbol- our Christ is risen and sits at the right hand of the fathjer to interceed for us- He is not on the cross and we do not display Him as such.

You promote hated and division while putting up a loving Christian facade. You're about as Christan as the most corrupt TV preacher. You have a very shallow understanding of Christianity. You phoney. You aren't even addressing the question. You're using this as an opportunity to criticize Catholics. Hate much?

Catholics believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
Protestants believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

    Conclusion: Catholics are Christians.

The only Christian religion that I know of that uses Christ on the Cross is the Catholics. It is to represent the fact that He died to pay for our sins.

All the other christian religions I know of use the empty cross to show His resurection.

Yeah you're wrong as usual. The crucifix didn't become the symbol of Christianity until around 1200AD. It was about that same time that the first 'stigmata' was recorded. Imagine that.

PS: You username is an ethnic slur against the people of France and I find it offensive.

Talk about trying to find offense where it is not intended...the name has nothing to do with France. Personally, I find eating frogs abhorent, and don't mind saying so, but that's a whole different thing.
When I saw "simmering frog", my first reaction was the well-known science experiment where a frog sat in pan of water that was heated, and the frog died because it didn't notice the gradual temperature change - this is a metaphor for creeping socialism in the USA.
People tend to accept the increased social spending, and loss of personal responsibility in small increments, but then they wonder why our credit as a nation is being downgraded, and we have to make drastic cuts in the future.

Dagon was an Assyrian god. The slur "Dago" on the other hand was once used to attack Italian American immigrants.
