There is more motivation and then you aren't the only one having to go through the difficulties.

Working with other people gives you motivation. I haven't had a weight problem, but when I'm running it's better to have other people there; for me at least.

my family doesn't diet, but we ALL eat healthy together. Exercising together also helps.

It's effective if it is done together....imagine eating whatever diet plate you have in front of you and they are eating this fat greasy bacon cheese burger in fries. You do the math!

I don't know have never had reason to go on a diet as I've weighed between 110-112 lbs since I was a teen. Now if anyone has any ideas on how to GAIN weight..open to suggestions..and not sitting on my ass, eating ever chance I get is not helping.

In grade school my female teachers used to make a fun competition out of it where they also motivated each other. I thought it was great

The only question remains: Can I still get plastered if I take a shot every time Paula Deen says the word "butter"?

It's all about support. For some people, it's difficult to motivate oneself to exercise and eat healthier by yourself, so a support system (be it family, friends, or even coworkers) helps.

Sometimes competition and support from others going through the same thing can be a good motivator.

Misery likes company. I watch Paula's show and her son's. They are making a fortune. But, the son has the right idea about tempering her very obscenely fattening recipes.

What is she going to do about the thousands of people whose health she ruined with her fat-laden recipes?

"Hamburgers with big chunks of BUTTER in them" WHAT the F&(%^!!!!!

Not a damn thing. She's not responsible for any of those people. People who watch cooking shows don't always make the food the cook prepares.

And even then, she's not responsible for any of them. The only thing she's responsible for is if she has them undercook something, but usually there's people around to catch that, so the chance of that happening is slim to nil.

As for the people who got fat off of her cooking? It's their own damn fault for eating that much of what they cooked based on what they saw on TV.
