ABCNEWS.GO.COM reports:
GDANSK, Poland – A top Palestinian aide accused Mitt Romney today of making a “racist statement” when comparing the economic vitality of the Israelis and the Palestinians, but the Romney campaign said his remarks were “grossly mischaracterized.” Romney’s statement, the Palestinian said, appeared to credit Israel’s higher income to cultural differences. “It is a racist statement and this man doesn’t realize that the Palestinian economy cannot reach its potential because there is an Israeli occupation,” Saeb Erekat, a senior aide to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, told the Associated Press. “It seems to me this man (Romney) lacks information, knowledge, vision and understanding of this region and its people.

Since both Jews and Arabs are Semites, I don't see a racial component.

If the Palestinian Authority spent more time promoting the free market system and less time trying to kill people, then maybe the Arabs would have a better life.

The government of Israel is not corrupt. No one should ignore the petition to stop iran not even anti-semitites like you. Those who ignore iran are stupid. iran will nuke Israel first, which would affect all other muslims surrounding Israel, (but they do not care about other muslims, shows how nutty they are,) then America next and then Europe, England in particular. Mark my words, they are a rogue state hell bent on starting world war three to bring in the 13th inman. Dear me, all these anti-Jews tripping over themselves for the end of Israel appear too dumb to realise they will be next. All of you, get a brain, use it, and fast. Israel is not the danger or the problem, islam is. Jeez.

How can you say "ignore the petition to stop Iran"? Is that what you really want, an Iran with nuclear capabilities? Left unhindered, they will wipe Israel off the map immediately. Why do you want such a thing to happen? Iran CANNOT be allowed to have or develop nuclear weapons, for the good of the whole world.

And even if the government of Israel is corrupt (which I doubt), that is nothing compared to the threat posed by Iran if it develops or obtains nuclear weapons.

Seriously, do you WANT Iran to nuke Israel? Because if not, it sure sounds like you do.

I personally seriously dislike Romney. However, I think his statements are misguided but not necessarily racist. Clearly, he does not understand the big picture, and his statements about culture being a major factor were ignorant, but I think he really thought he was making a logical comparison. I also want to point out that culture and race cannot and should not be used interchangeably.

If they're offended by their own reporting, then that's their problem.

I heard the comments and they were not racist. There is an obvious problem with those Palestinians as they are of the same race as the Israelis He was referring specifically to "economic vitality ". This is directly related to their historic lifestyles. He could have referred to them as Bedouin and industrialists. They are looking for reasons just as uneducated do all over the world.

No they are not the same race, and palastinians are not a race of people. They are muslims from surrounding arab countries.
