I can see a Doctor making a mistake, but I've always depended on the Pharmacist to catch any errors. Although a week ago I got an antibiotic that was from a family that I am clearly allergic to (and its in my pharmacy file). They were pretty upset and provided a corrected script for free.

Yeah, we can't always depend on the pharmacy either. I picked one up about 3 weeks ago and when I opened the bottle, I immediately realized it was not my regular medicine because that medicine is not generic and my Doctor hadn't changed it. When I looked at the label, I discovered they had filled it with 200 mg instead of 50 mg. It could have killed me. I learned a big lesson, always check the label on refilled generic prescriptions. I assumed that they looked different because you can never tell with generic prescriptions. I will no longer make any assumptions.
    Is this the same medication
    IS IT THE CORRECT MEDICATION?

Good advice. A person has to be aware of what they're taking. I looked up what they gave me and found it was from the 'family' of antibiotics I was allergic to. I will always check now.

Funny you would mention this matter Sister as this very thing happened to my wife just abt. 6-weeks ago, after she was hospitalized a couple days for tests about Diverticulitis, instead of anti-diarreha medication, she was given a prescription for a powerful Laxitive, lucky I knew the generic name for the drug given and questioned it to her Physician over the phone and he was hot over the mix up and actually raised his voice to the nursing staff. And wrote up the entire R.N. staff up over the issue.

That stuff ain't much fun, I feel for you as I've seen the pain my Wife has endured, there has even been talk of surgery where a portion of the Colon or Intestine is removed which is inflammed or infected, but so far she has been able to control the bad spells with medication. Best Wishes Sister with this.

fortunately it's never happened to me-this is something that should be triple checked by the pharmacist before distributed

With the shortages of some meds and therefore their unavailability, the replacement meds can and do get messed up. I know it is a shame, but it is no disgrace nor is it unbelievable.

Think about all of the prescriptions handed out everyday, some are bound to be fouled up along the line, law of averages kicks in.
