Talk about a balanced split. A new Gallop poll reveals that only about half of women (51 percent) would rather have a job outside the home rather than "stay at home and take care of the house and family," if given the choice to do either. Which would you rather do?

GALLUP.COM reports:
Half of all women in the U.S., 51%, say that if free to do either, they would rather have a job outside the home than "stay at home and take care of the house and family," similar to the rate seen since 2007. This contrasts with 76% of men.

Staying at home is work! I would rather stay at home, go without extras, get sh*t for pay & vacation time yet be the one raising my kids as opposed to society doing so!

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that stay at home people don't work, but there are perks to not having to pay for transportation or not getting fired for coming in late and things like that. I'd suggest they do a survey similar to this but with men and infer something from that.

stay at home while working.Nowadays have alot of opportunities like work from home program where moms like us won't have to go outside just to work. You can do a lot w/ur precious time tending ur kids ,cleaning the house and sewing all the unsewed garments....:))i'd rather stay home that's all while earning at the same time...... http://profitclick...

If i was a woman, i'd rather work and have the money to pay someone to clean the house and buy new garments so i don't have to sew then back.

I would rather work but with three babies under 5 yrs of age it's actually more economic to stay home than work just to pay daycare or nannies.

Working is a better choice because you get out and meet people, when it's time to go home you will feel like you have accomplished something. If you have young children and you don't want to leave them in the care of someone else, working from home would be great!

I'd get bored if I was at home constantly. If I were to have a child, though, and I were financially stable enough to do so, I'd stay at home until they were old enough to be in school. I wouldn't want to miss those early years.

In this economy, women better start finding a job outside of their home. You know, help the husbands with the bills and mortgage/rent.

I would rather work at home. I work in a racially tense area and it just sucks to go there everyday. It's hard enough to face the grind stone everyday, must! we make it harder on one another.

    ******************** LET ME EXPLAIN ************************

I would rather stay at home, because I am retired Navy, and I worked 36 years in Retail Management.
Now I am at home Everyday and loving it. Bills get paid, I have a little left over, and I can go where I want to go, and I don't ever again have to miss Church because of a work Schedule.
But I was the Manager.... Ya but when i was I believed it was not fair to stick others on the weekend unless I was willing to do that too. I always treated my employees right, now I am a Soda head Regular, and my yard and the better half get the rest of me.

    Dang !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Retirement

Does miss church actually count for anything? I stay home and write eveything that people look at on TV -- however church has nothing to do with it.

It does to me. It is an Opportunity meet over believers and worship and Praise God and study his word, which I do every day anyway in my own devotions but i love Church.

Some like Super Bowl Sunday, Me I would rather be at Church. But we are all different, those out there who are believers know what I am talking about

Yet the feminists still try and force women to go out and work - men don't stop them, the women just don't want to. It is very interesting how in times of hardship women want to work more, when usually in those times the women get pushed back into the house... Shows how they want what they can't have, like every other group in society...

Oh please. "Force"? What, feminists show up at your door, put you in interview clothes and then cattle prod your ass to a job site? Give me a break.

Psychologically. They make women feel that they are being prejudiced against and that they should go out to work otherwise the men will continue to dominate them.

That is just the whining of men who think that women are nothing more than baby dispensers.
