One-Person Family Units are the New Normal : Agree?

Seems like a sad trend to me. Who am I to say, though? Maybe this is the peace of mind some people long for. Maybe it IS right for some people.

You would have to be very wealthy to live single in California. Most singles here have room mates. I personally have never wanted to live alone, different strokes for different folks.

I'm not sure if it's the new normal, but its not abnormal. Not sure why some of these replies are making this political and sound so angry about the idea of someone living by themselves. It's a personal choice. Get over it.

However it cant be a family,, family indicates more than one... A lot of people are chosing to live alone,, less stress and no one telling them what to do...

I don't put too much value in their polls, and this could be another one of those " majority wants gay marriage" proclamations.

I genreally think this seems to be a growing trend but I do wish there had been an "undecided" option. I alos wonder how many of those people living alone are divorcees. Given the incidence of divorce. I think a large number of those living alone would be in this cagtegory. Many people are divorced and just don't want to go there again.

I don't watch the mainstream media, except for local news, however, on this issue, I agree. I am one of these. And, in my town, there are many singles who live alone. Most of us are widowed, and our children are grown. There is a saying that, "Friends are the family you choose for yourself," and I'm finding that to be true in my situation.

CBS - These people along with ABC and NBC are left wing, agenda driven, socialist. I can't believe anything that these people say anymore.

Trouble is, the recipe sites haven't caught up to the trend. Do all these singles simply pop in a microwave dinner? Not smart.

This won't last. A new generation is coming up that builds families.

It is sad but single housholds are normal nowadays. We are women and men so we can built the families, have children. I need a company of man, it makes me complete human being.

I am very happily married will be 30 years on Wednesday and I love the company of my husband. But please understand this comment in the compliment I mean it to be, even though I don't know you, you are a complete wonderful work of God just as you are, yes the man God gives you as a husband does feel like your other half but "a man" doesn't make you. Hope that makes sense to you.

I think it's the opposite. I watched a program over the weekend and they said that there's more grown children living with there parents than ever. They get out of school and instead of getting a decent job, and an apartment, they end up back with mom and dad. I don't know if their single, but they're not living alone.

With the high cost of living and high unemployment rate it is the way most families are surviving.

That immoral conduct stems from fear. Fear of being rejected, not measuring up, no committment no worries. A destructive path indeed, Though alot are living alone for this reason, call it giving up? or simply fear of intimacy.
Society induced? Morals on decline, selfishness, lack of empathy for others, and so on, is what is happened to the world at large.
