Live here too, joys of living in paradise. The water will recede before they label your property waterfront and increase your property taxes. Stay safe, carry a shot gun to kill those pesky critters.

Meh.....geez, I get so tired of these whiny carpetbaggers....they move down here, want to have waterfront property....but golly jeepers....don't let the critters near them....

Afterall, what kind of moron lives with dikes in their backyard?? Oooops, guess that covers all of New Orleans.....

You put up with that too live in Florida, while I put up with winter snow storms to live in northern Michigan...but in the end, it's where we want to be that counts.

Born and raised there. Moved away for good in 1984 with no intent of ever moving back. Nice to visit, but as far as I am concerned that's the only reason for being in Florida. Nothing against Floridians. Most are great people just like anyplace else. I just got tired of three climates, hot, hotter and hottest with lots of humidity.

Yes, instead of constantly building and rebuilding and widening roads, they need to make drainage a lot better. We have canals and swails that are now lakes. We are right in the middle of a wildlife preserve so floods bring lots of snakes and gators.

I kid my aunt in Florida all the time. Hurricane-dodging is the #1 sport down there. :)~

Ah .. yes ..
know those 'joys' well indeed ..
between the gators, coral snakes, various/sundry poison spiders .. and then there's the plants that are painful to encounter (or have their own poisons) ..
the windstorms that toss mature trees like matchsticks ..
the thunderstorms ..
(and let's not forget the swarms of yellow jackets, wasps .. or the (for example) africanized bees)
just SO much 'fun' ..
(tongue in cheek)

Part and parcel of life in the Sunshine State ..
(As I type .. the rain/wind is clearly heard on my roof)

The State of Florida is a beautiful place. They have summer almost year around. Fishing and hunting are my favorites. Florida has some very good persons and great geography plus lots of coastal water and recreational activities.
