She's going for the gold, but she hasn't gone all the way. Olympic track star Lolo Jones, 29, says she's saving herself for marriage, calling it the "hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life." In fact, the American athlete confesses on HBO’s "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel" that saving herself is "harder than training for the Olympics." Wow.

lolo jones

"I’ve been tempted," she admits. "I’ve had guys tell me, ‘You know, if you have sex, it will help you run faster. It’s just something, a gift I want to give to my husband. But, please understand, this journey has been hard." But that doesn't mean she isn't looking for love -- on the Internet. "This is what people do when they’re 29, single, in a house by themselves with a dog," she reveals.

Lolo Jones was favored to win the 100-meter hurdles at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, but she tripped and finished seventh. She will compete at this summer’s Games in London. Do you think what Jones is doing -- or not doing -- is admirable or silly?

Really? Then how do you account for the fact that of the 560 people who have voted on this poll, 457 of them approve of her position?

To save face because they probably are sharing this with the friends they've made here and wouldn't dare go against the popular vote. Just because no one can face to fa e you on here doesn't mean people still don' or won't fabricate their answers. I don't care what people think about what I think, and the friends I make here chose to friend me because you can never be sure what I wil think or vote for. The concept of sex being a magical explosion of deeply personal pleasure witb another human being is gone. Watch Maury Povitch. Watch Jersey Shore. Go to a club. No one thinks this way, and yet the vote doesn't reflect life as it truly is.

I don't think you can speak for those people who put admirable or those who didn't. Some may fabricate but I actually believe it is admirable.
The poll doesn't represent life because it is polling everyone (impossible) and it is asking if her actions are admirable not if you yourself would choose the same path. She never said sex is going to be a magical explosion, she just wants to share it with her husband.

It's a mature, sane attitude. But, what the heck . . . how does that apply to 98% of the 18 to 25-year-olds?

I wouldn't go so far as to say "admirable", but, to each their own. Sex doesn't have to be rushed.

I would never call anyone wanting to wait for marriage silly. That is her choice and while it may not make her a hero or anything, the girl has guts to say no to something she doesn't want to do. So many young girls just give in to keep a man or because they have low self-esteem. She obviously thinks she has something worth waiting for. So good for her.

It's easy for those who aren't able to take personal responsibility, to mock those who do.

So having sex is personally irresponsible if it happened before marraige? What if you where in a plane wreck in the mountains, and you and another person where virgins, and you really thoight you where gonna die there, would you do it? Or would you die never knowing physical passion and elation? That doesn't sound like an irresponsible decision to me.

I can understand how someone, who most likely will die alone, would feel that way.
    Each their own.

That's all I really mean. She can choose when to go through with it whenever she likes, but this sort of choice isn't common in todays day and age. I hope she doesn't wait too much longer, she'll be that 70yr old virgin that was posted on here recently.

Although it's really not that admirable, it's most definitely not silly. It is a person's choice what they want to do with their body. We shouldn't look down at them for their choices, but it's not really something to praise them for, either. It's great that she is, but I'm not going to sit around and actually admire her for it. (Thanks SH, your reputation for two-option-only questions is again very evident.)

She's doing the right thing. One wrong step and she could get pregnant or get an STD and ruin her whole career. At least she knows what she wants once she's done with her track career.

I am going to say neither but that was not an option, holding out for marrage is a personal choice that is good but you are not bad either if you have sex before marrage.

I wanted to vote "none of the above," but it's her vagina. You can't call a woman "silly" for having her rules. Having said that, I've met too many divorcees that married some douschebag, just to get into the sack, to find it "admiral."

Her body is her gift to give ... her choice as to whom, and when.... just as well, I wouldn't think any less of her or anyone if their choice was not to wait 'til marriage ... lots of things to be considered in relationships between a man and a woman, and how they handle it is their business, not mine ...

There should be a third option ; such as "I Think..." Because honestly its not admirable and its not silly its just what she wants to do and thats fine. There is no need to wait until marriage for sex unless the person wants to and thus that is what she wants to do. Neither admirable nor silly.

I just don't get why it's always the woman's job to save it.
In school, guys brag about losing theirs.
If a guy doesn't lose his, it doesn't make him any less of a man.
    Double standards much?
I don't judge. If you've 'got it on' with multiple partners and haven't stuck with any of them, I'm not going to label you a slut/whore.
If you save puckering up for the wedding day, you're not a prude. Not in my book.
