She's going for the gold, but she hasn't gone all the way. Olympic track star Lolo Jones, 29, says she's saving herself for marriage, calling it the "hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life." In fact, the American athlete confesses on HBO’s "Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel" that saving herself is "harder than training for the Olympics." Wow.

"I’ve been tempted," she admits. "I’ve had guys tell me, ‘You know, if you have sex, it will help you run faster. It’s just something, a gift I want to give to my husband. But, please understand, this journey has been hard." But that doesn't mean she isn't looking for love -- on the Internet. "This is what people do when they’re 29, single, in a house by themselves with a dog," she reveals.

Lolo Jones was favored to win the 100-meter hurdles at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, but she tripped and finished seventh. She will compete at this summer’s Games in London. Do you think what Jones is doing -- or not doing -- is admirable or silly?

Unless she dates guys from her church - - it probably isn't going to work out so well. She is almost 30... Most guys run like mad when they learn the 30 year old chick they are dating is still a virgin.

But: you never know... she is a celeb now, which will changes things a bit in her favor.

That's the way God intended it to be. So she's very admirable for having the strength to abstain until marriage. I just hope she finds a man that has done the same. It is very special and a gift to each other to give yourself completely. But in today's society we are living in people seem to think it's not wrong anymore. Just look @ all the teens we have pregnant now a days. And you always hear them say, "I wish I would have waited." Because once you give it up you can't take it back. I don't condemn anyone for not waiting because iit's a personal choice for them regardless if you are religious or not. But I do admire her for sticking to her beliefs.

To each their own - it's admirable for her, if that's what she feels is right. I think sex is important - I would want to know about that person sexually before I married them. That might seem horrible - but, I think it's important to know if you are compatible in that way before making that commitment.

There is probably something admirable about it too, but I really don't think it makes much sense, and it's even a little sad. What if she never gets married, and she's denied herself one of the great experiences of human existance, and for what? So that she will have no idea what she's doing, on her wedding night, if that night ever comes?
I get religious customs, but at some point don't you almost have to reconsider the practicality of those customs?

To me having sex with a 30 something virgin (assuming she doesn't marry before 30) would be virtual pedophilia. I couldn't deal with it.

That said I do admire her for respecting her beliefs. However unless she marries a male virgin her virginity isn't going to be the "gift" she fantasizes about.

It is not just sex. It is the first time, (and presumably exclusivity thereafter.) Also, because this is from a woman's perspective. When it is from the man's perspective it is the other way around (he gives, she gets.)
Hopefully she will find that man who can/will give her the same gift.
