Off to NYC today! What would you do there?

We are just spending a few days, going touring on the tour busses and seeing a couple Broadway Shows. We are seeing Stomp and the Harry Potter Parody. We chose these with our daughter in mind. :) Of course we'll shop a bit, eat great food, including some famous NY pizza! My hubby and daughter haven't been yet, so I get to finally take them.

Be sure and take the 3 hour "Circle Line" boat tour around Manhattan Island. We lived in New York for years and all of our guests would take it and tell us that it gave them the best possible overview of the City and all of its landmarks! It used to leave from the pier at West 42nd Street.

Go to the Twin towers site and walk down and see the area plus the vendors selling really cheap stuff. They are fun to walk by and let them try to sell you a souvenir. If you wait long enough they pack up and take off if any authorities come around. Cheap tee shirts.

Visit Central Park, that big natural history museum (forgot it's name), the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, and the huge public library. I would also take the subway system, ride a yellow taxi, and visit Canal Street. Canal St. is where they sell all the pirated DVDs, fake watches, and cheap T-shirts.

It's actually called the Museum of Natural History. You can spend days there.

i was born there until i was 4 then i move to SC i hate it here.....only thing i can tell you look out cuz alot of people there hav guns in they will kill u in a heart beat

NYC is the safest big city in America.
I've lived here most of my life and the only time I've seen guns or heard gunfire was at a rifle range.

It's pretty safe compared to cities like Phoenix, Detroit, Seattle, Dallas, and New Orleans. In fact, Boston (which is a pretty safe city) has a bigger gang problem than NYC. Just make sure to stay away from the ghettos and you should be fine.

See ground zero, go to a broadway show, take the staten island ferry just to get a water view of the statue of liberty.

What is your favorite thing about NYC? We just got back BTW. Great time! Did all the on/off bus tours, visited the 911 memorial, ate, shopped saw Harry Potter Potted and Stomp. Awesome time! Plus a fun train ride to and from the city.

If you're going to see STOMP then you owe it to yourself to go to Pom Frittes opposite the theater. They serve hand made fresh Belgian fries with dozens of sauces to choose from.

If you're a Led Zeppelin fan, around the corner at 96 & 98 St. Marks place are the buildings used for the cover of Physical Graffiti.

Frankly, nobody notices the change in cooking oil and I don't know anybody who buys 16oz sodas.
NYC is a lot more than that. Great shopping, museums, shows and food. Regardless of your budget there is plenty to do here.

BTW: Bloomy is not going to run again. Before you say 'great!' you should know that right now each potential candidate is more liberal than the next. They make Bloomberg seem like Reagan in comparison.

As in every election you make a choice. You may not agree 100% with either candidate so you pick the one you agree with the most. That's why Bloomberg won three terms. The first coming right after 9/11. Bloomberg had to follow Rudy Giuliani. Not an easy task.
He won three terms because his opponents were all uber-liberal Democratic hacks.
