It's about time people realized that America's colleges and universities are nothing more than big businesses. It's unconscionable that at four-year, public institutions tuition has jumped up 15 percent in the last two years -- even faster than the cost of health care! Too many people are going to college, receiving educations that are next to useless, while being brainwashed by left-leaning academics, and graduating into a deteriorating economy that offers them dim job prospects for paying off their onerous student loan debt.

Young people are not the only ones being ruthlessly exploited by these so-called "institutions of higher learning". The trend, these days, in universities, is towards the hiring of "adjunct" faculty, who are paid by the course (usually about $2500 per course) and who receive no benefits or tenure, and who do the actual grunt work of instruction. At the same time, these universities are paying "administrators" lavish salaries, usually well in excess of six figures. The reality is that today an individual with a PhD can make more money teaching in a public school than in a university.

A young person today would have better job prospects by attending a trade school and learning how to become a machinist or welder, than in running up a huge tab to receive a Bachelor's Degree in some useless field like "women's studies" or "art history"!

And I thought I was a bad person just because I don't want to attend college. AT my school. my guidance counselor and everyone around me stresses college. It gets on my nerves especially when I am not interested in going to college.
People need to realize college is not for everyone. I know it is not for me but my mother wants me to attend college anyways.
I want to be a journalist/author and I rather got to trade school because alot of newly college graduates haven't even found a job in this economy and can't ever find a job period.
College education is NOT always the road to success.

But look where his secretly funded college education has gotten him.

Is there a parking garage in Chicago that can hire an unemployed expert on luxury vacations?

It is alright. Really. The government-run education establishment has made high school such an uncomfortable place for males, especially white males, that fewer and fewer of them are going on to college. Colleges are nearly 60% female and only 40% male. This is close to one and a half women in college for each man. So, we will continue to have plenty of college educated people. They will just be very predominantly the government-favored women. Men will sink into the lower paying jobs of our society, as the Progressive Elitist wish them to.

I am a retired College Administrator and when Obama was running for President he claimed that he attended Occidential, Columbia and Harvard. Well I called friends I knew at those Universities and learned that YES Obama was registered, but rarely attended classes nor took exams. Also even though he was assigned a Dorm Room his roommate never saw him nor did Obama ever spend a night in the Dorm! So, the million dollar question is? Where did Obama spend the nights?? The truth is that Obama's handlier had a place set up for him in an Apartment. Therefore, he did not have to stay in the Dorms!

The Bottom line to all of the above is that inorder for Obama to enter the race for President, he had to have College Credentials, which he never earned but was provided by his Muslim Handilers that paid for his education and donated millions to all three Universities when they needed paper work from the Universities to get Obama excepted into the Presidential Race,! Therefore, all they did was donate more money to the Schools, who did their bidding, like producing a Fake Law Degree! Obama claims to have graduated Harvard, but there is no record in the yearbook of Obama attending harvard nor does Harvard have a copy of his tests or his Law Degree on file!!

I agree. I am a young person, 17 and I don't plan on going to college.
I aspire to be a journalist and I rather attend trade school. I feel college is a waste of money and time these days.
I am glad you wrote this all down but it will be hard to convince my mother that I don't want to attend college.

Thanks for your input and I wish you all the best in whatever career path you choose to pursue. There are plenty of trade schools and two-year colleges that offer a quick route to a viable occupation and won't saddle you, or your parents, with 20 years of debt.

I have a son, with a PhD and $100,000 in student loans, who cannot find a full-time job teaching in a university, due to the current trend in hiring adjunct (part-time) faculty. To say that he is bitter, would be a gross understatement.

Thank you. I don't care to go to college and with your son an example on why I don't want to attend college, it would be easy to convince my mother not to send me to college.
P.S. I want to be a well known author and I write stories often. I want to make it big as an author and then go to trade school and become an journalist.
There is no point on sending your kid to college these days. I know this because I know this college student that can't find a job despite being well educated. College is not for everyone.

Speaking as a physician, I would advise you that the government thugs consider us doctors to be an obstacle they'd like to obliterate.

The standard operating procedure in socialized medicine is to promise the people "guaranteed access" to health care while making goddam certain that there aren't enough service providers available to deliver that care.

Take a long, hard look at Britain's National Health Service (remember all those bed-bouncing nurses parading bizarrely in the opening ceremonies of the London Olympics this year?) and Canada's "Dead Meat" medicare system.

Medical doctors are trained to consider themselves professionals with a duty to the individual patient, NOT to the "third party payors" who collect the health insurance premiums, skim their cream off the top, and grudgingly remit "reimbursements" to the physicians who actually do the work.

This is not something our Magical Mystery Mombasa Marxist and his "Liberal" fascist buddies want, and they're scheming to get the European model in place - a top-down politically micromanaged system - as a pork barrel they can exploit and a scheme of political favors they can dispense to the helpless, choice-less, gulled and diddled American citizen.

Not to mention the illegal aliens they're importing to fill their plantation.

It is Obama's way of keeping grads in debt to government similar to what they do to keep people in housing camps depending on the government.

What we are getting is a lot of psuedo intellectuals who actually know nothing and live in their parents' basements. It always surprises me when parents say I sent them to school and they got a teaching degree and they cannot get a job (if they had done their homework they would have learned teaching jobs are very hard to find). Do some homework first. I had a psych professor who suggested that if one thought they wanted to work with serious mental cases they should first visit a state hospital. After the visit she thought many would change their mind. Smart lady.

Yep this prez wants everyone to attend college with some of the payments added to my tax bill. Makes no sense. Let's flood the job market with more and more young people who will eventually hit the unemployment lines. Who's going to fix my plumbing problem....a person with a master's degree in psychology from Harvard? This is exactly what will be happening.
