How long could you survive without the internet? One day? One week? One month? Paul Miller, 26, is trying to live without the internet for one whole year. So far, Miller has been offline for 3 months. He hasn't sent an email, clicked a link, sent a text message, or used web browser since May 1st of this year.

The ABC News article goes on to say that Miller loves the internet. However, he is also aware that the internet is a giant distraction and he wanted to unplug for a while. Miller states, "I found it very distracting and I wanted to spend time studying and writing uninterrupted. I wanted to read books that I could have read at any time, but instead I was reading Reddit. I wanted to write things I wanted to write for a long time, but instead I was tweeting." Do you think you could survive without the internet for one year?

ABCNEWS.GO.COM reports:
For one whole year Paul Miller will live without the Internet, and as of publishing this article, Miller has not been online for three months.

I mean, if I for some reason moved to Africa and changed my entire way of life, of course I *could*. But I need the internet for my work, and my studying, and my internet addiction >.> So I could not carry on my life as I do now.

I could do it, but I don't want to. Then you have to go the extra mile to look up phone numbers, addresses, buy/sale stuff, learn about something your curious about...it can be done but the internet is quicker and easier and cheaper!

Yes I could; didn't deal with the Internet/cellphone for the 1st half of my life; one year without isn't going to kill me (but it will for any child under 25 [30??]--they cant live, breathe, eat without any kind of tech gadgetry for one day; let alone 1 hour!!!)

I seriously despise this generation to a massive tee (under 25); they take everything for granted and they need the Internet/cellphone for everything; avoiding any kind of human contact/connection for some reason.??

Actually there are still plenty of people under 25 who rarely use their mobile phone and are perfectly good at human contact. You're describing a fairly small demographic of socially inept technology addicts.

I need it for school work and to check my school email. If I want to graduate next May, I have to use the internet.

Almost everything I do is tied to the internet in one way or another. If I absolutely had to, I suppose I could give it up, but it would be hard! ;)

I believe I can go without the internet for a year! Man don't realize they are encouraging "Instantaneous" to the people. Teaching no patient, putting no effort, work hard, laziness in other words destroying the will to achieve because it's so easy to be accessible.

For many things I do for my studies I need the internet. It seems like this young man just needs to learn how to control himself. He has the power to be on line and not waste time, if he did not want to . He does not have to cut it out 100%.

I used to think I could but now that I have been on for so many years... I don't think I could. I mean, I wouldn't die but i wouldn't want to do it. It keeps me connected to the world and the news.

I would love to try out the experiment, but currently I am using the internet a lot to kill time, so I would have to search for different things to do. I would probably watch TV, call up friends to chill, read books, play the drums or do the other stuff I'd normally do apart from hitting the internet. I would go out more probably so in that way its a great thing to do

You need it for everything. School, bills, keep in touch with what's going on in the world, keep in touch with fam/friends that are too far away to visit etc. I'm not saying I sit on the computer 24/7 but I would say I'm fairly dependent on it. Everything is done on the internet now. If forced, I'm sure I could deal with it. But by will? No.

Lord, no! Not me...My entire house is wired up to the wifi. We have Netflix streaming on at least four different devices, and all our bills and bank accounts are linked in via the Internet. I think my family would go nuts!

I do not have it in my home. Haven't had cable in like 5 years either. My life is unpolluted and enriched. It's really sad that people feel so dependent on the internet. Unplug people. When the societal collapse happens I wonder what they will do?

In large part because it's the cheapest way to keep in touch with my family and friends overseas.
