"N.J. Gov. Christie strongly defends lowering flags for Houston" Are we flying the flag at Half Mast/Half Staff too often for people the tradition was never meant for and by doing so lessening the true meaning of flying the flag at Half Mast/Half Staff?

Lowering the flag to half staff is meant to honor people who have been of great service to their nation or to their state. Ms. Houston served her state well as an ambassador of good will.

I'm sorry but from what I've seen in interviews, Ms. Houston was a nasty pain in the ass. I'm sorry she died but.......

Are we going to have a National Day for her too? I liked Whitney Houston and nothing against her but yes the political token recognitions of this or that are self serving and they are getting rediculous-- by both R's and D's.

I have to disagree with Christie on this one, a good singer, but not worthy of a national tradition of mourning someone who served.
