Dr. George Tiller's abortion clinic is wanted by Troy Newman, the man who tried to put Tiller out of business for years. Now that Tiller died, Newman wants to buy the abortion center from Tiller's wife, as a "center for life" and not death. Newman's group goes around trying to destroy abortion clinics, just like Tiller's. The abortion clinic building was appraised at being worth $734,100.

It is up to Tiller's widow what she wishes to do with the clinic. I have no idea if she is putting it up for sale, but if she is I am sure her main concern is getting the highest price, not what use the building will be put to once purchased. The question doesn't say whether or not the building is up for sale or not. I do rather think that Newman could have waited a bit before asking if he could buy the building. Give the widow a few months to get over the initial shock and perhaps have a clearer mind. She just lost her husband for crying out loud.

You have to admit that there are very adamant opinions on both sides of the abortion issue. What we have here though, is a building. It has no heart or soul. It doesn't know what has transpired within its halls. Newman should save his money and walk away and if he so desires be happy that the building will probably be used for something other then its last use.

I'm sorry. Maybe I'm not informed. Did Newman murder Tiller? Please fill me in about Newman. I truly don't know. And I don't want to hear that he pushed the actual killer to shoot Tiller, unless there is evidence.

I did not claim that Neuman pulled the trigger, nor link him to Tillmans actual murder.

What I said and the facts support is that he and his group are terorist. The harassed patients, grabbing, then claiming that they where going to follow home with hatchet. Following through on that threat on employees.
Documented threats of "do you want to die by knife or bullet?"

If I had made such out and out threats I would be in jail. I wonder why the Witchita police don't inforce the law?

I was not aware of these things...it is clearly wrong of them and is not justified. But I would rather not see such a clinic open at all. I cannot answer as to what the Witchita Police do in respects to the law.

I don't agree with abortion...but I also don't agree with bullying tactics. I fear that there are bullies on both sides (there usually is). I just wish that people would be honest about what is involved in abortion...and also what emotional damage that can be involved later.

You don't know why some late-term abortions take place. Some of them are because the fetus is developing abnormally - severely so. Preventing unwanted pregnancies is certainly the first way to go. But I have known people who were not given amniocentesis because they "looked" young and healthy. Their genetics were bad and the fetus wasn't discoverd to have severe problems until later in the pregnancy - One friend's child has no lower body. It will take years and a succession of excruciating surgeries to create "something." The child will suffer terribly, along with everyone else - and die prematurely anyway. I would not bring such a child into this world where we ignore so many healthy ones - no one wants to pay to educate, medically treat or house the many normal and handicapped children we already have. Look at the horrible, selfish comments made over a single payer healthcare system - "NOT MY DIME FOR SOMEBODY WHO DOESN"T WORK AS HARD AS I DO." Society can't have it both ways - if you want these kids - you pay for them.

I agree. As of the news today, the clinic will close instead. The Xtianist won; don't like abortion? Murder the doctor. Read the blog Hullabaloo for a really well-written take on this situation. Where is the DOJ building a case against these groups that incite actions like this and support it? This is an intimidation tactic, meant to terrorize other doctors and consumers of a valuable (and legal) procedure, terrorist is quite an apt descriptor.

Genetic counselors know there is a medical need for abortions of severely damaged fetuses - I have seen families with these babies who are barely recognizable as human and severely brain damaged - no one should be forced to care for such a child instead of having a safe medical abortion. The children often don't live long and suffer terribly - the parents and siblings are destroyed by the experience. I would never judge someone who could not take a situation like that.

Yes they should. Then instead of ripping futures away from children and making many women miserable, the place will be for saving futures and allowing women to take a challenge with help and/or move on peacefully by giving the child to parents who will love him.

I have a friend who adopted a schizophrenic infant - both genetic parents were schizophrenic. Her life, her other kids' lives are a mess. Talk is one thing - living it another. To say someday I'd like to do that isn't the same as having your doctor tell you your unborn child has severe genetic deformities and will be .6 years of age developmentally at age 12 - when his large body will have to be maintained 24/7 by nurses and aides, he will be prone to many illnesses and this week's goal is to follow a pencil with his eyes.
