A 19-year-old girl in New Zealand auctioned her virginity online in order to pay for college tuition. After 30,000 views and 1,200 offers on the 'ineed' website, the young lady, under the anonymous username 'Unigirl', sold herself for $32,000. Since prostitution is legal in New Zealand, 'Unigirl' broke no laws in the process.
Though 'Unigirl' sold herself legally, the college student, desperate for money, set a dangerous precedent. Police spokesman, Jon Neilson, points out that "there are definitely issues of personal safety" when meeting anonymous users online. The New Zealand government recognized that "it's not a safe practice" but still allowed this action to continue.
By allowing the young girl to auction her virginity, is the New Zealand government promoting prostitution?

Oh please! If it is something she wants to do it is not hurting her. The only way it would hurt her is if she was forced into it.
And I highly doubt if she ever gets married it is going to hurt her husband or children. I have a husband and 3 children and I had sexual partners before I had a husband and 3 children and it did not hurt them at all. Who someone sleeps with is really no one else's business. As long as she is honest with him (future husband) about having slept with another man before meeting him she is hurting no one.
She wants to, let her, she's not breaking laws.
