The University of Western Ontario conducted a study that found 88% of individuals are guilty of using Facebook to spy on an ex. Veronika Lukacs, who wrote her thesis on the subject told the New York Daily News, “It’s so interesting right now, so different from before this technology existed.” She goes onto say, "once you broke up in the past, it was over.” But now, according to her study, "nearly everyone" uses Facebook to clue themselves in to the lives of their exes.

NYDAILYNEWS.COM reports:
If you think you’re the only one who creeps on Facebook to see what an ex is up to, think again. Nearly everyone — 88% — is guilty of using the social network to spy on someone after a breakup, research from University of Western Ontario finds.

Yeah, I totally stalk my exes. Openly infact! I'll be chatting with one of my exes and I'll say something like, "Oh yeah! Is that your new girlfriend by the way? I was facebook stalking you and you guys look pretty cozy in the pictures".

But then again, I am friends with most of my exes, and I also pretty much facebook stalk everyone

I don't have an Ex. Well, I did have a girlfriend many decades ago, but it's so long that I don't really consider her my "Ex".

But I have been stalked on FB. It isn't clear why, but the folks who did it were obviously insensitive idiots.

First of all, I have no exes. I'd like to see that study. I have family & lots of friends on FB, none of whom use it to spy on anybody, LOL!

That's not to say, some have not done that & much worse... it's the internet for gosh-sakes! BUT, I dought "most" use it for that.

I've been happily married for 33 years. Before; when I was in the dating scene, my belief was all exes are exes for a reason and there no reason to concern myself with them.

Im not interested in what my ex is doing or who he is with...I do know a few people who use facebook mostly for that reason and I just dont get it. Especially those who say they are so much happier without so and so, if thats the case get over it and move on. Besides if I didnt want them enough to keep them from being an ex why should I be worried about them now and if they didnt want me enough to keep me from being an ex I'm better off without them.

I've actually blocked my exs so they can't keep tabs on me. There's a reason they're ex's and I have no desire to spy on them or see what they're upto. I use facebook to keep in contact with those who've moved away, and to stay updated on what's going on at my job.

Well it's possible that the kind of people that have voted on this sodahead poll do not represent the general population or that the people who participated in the study were not representative of the general population. I mean some people could have declined from taking the study and that could have skewed the results. The survey method is can in some cases get results that were wrong as even when they take a sample that is as random as possible it may not be random enough to avoid skewing the results as only certain people may be able to participate.

I have looked at a few of my old flames on Facebook. I just wanted to see what they look like now after all these years. I mean, I'm forty-one, so go figure. Boy, I sure was surprised. I'm sort of glad we broke up. I wouldn't want to stay with those old bags the rest of my life. lol
