According to the New England Journal of Medicine's recent study, there is a very strong link between sugar-sweetened beverages (i.e. soda) and America's obesity epidemic. Dr. David Ludwig of Boston Children's Hospital's New Balance Foundation Obesity Prevention Center told the Chicago Tribune there is no doubt what is the greatest cause of obesity in America.

"The most effective single target for an intervention aimed at reducing obesity is sugary beverages." If that is truly the case, there is a big problem. Millions of Americans consume soda. In fact, sugary beverages almost go hand-in-hand when it comes to watching movies and live events. However, steps have been taken to limit soda intake.

Most schools across the country have practically banned soda from students' drink choices during lunchtime. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg helped pass the controversial law that will ban supersized sugary drinks from being sold. And fitness gurus such as DDPYoga founder Dallas Page have gone as far to say soda is the worst thing you can put in your body when trying to stay healthy. These observations and studies may cut into soda companies' profits, but swaying a majority of Americans to stop consuming these beverages could take awhile.

Soda is intended to be a treat or beverage with a meal with a bit of a benign kick to it. The phosphoric acid in many soda dissolves aluminum, tungsten and other metals, teeth and metal fillings.

Rarely anymore, but seriously?! "Link Between Soda and Obesity"...

This is just like the ole questions of

"Does video games cause violence? Duh, Yeah !
"Does violence on TV cause more crimes? Duh, Yeah !
"Does our government really lie, cheat, steal from us and cause millions of deaths around the world all the time? Duh, Well Hell Yeah !
"Do guns kill people? Duh, Yeah, Dumb A$$ !!!...and the stupid people who have them and cause the gun to go off, kill people too
....and so on and so on and so on !!!!

How many freakin years, heck, decades, do we have to ask the same old questions or how long does the corporate own mindless news have to ask it as if something is "new" and we all act surpised about it, before someone actually answers it or finally says Hell No !, I'm not going to take it anymore, and actually have any real balls to do anything about anything?!!!

I'm guessing No one, as it is painfully obvious by the mostly mere yes or no 373 replies to this stupid posting, that just stated something very clear to anyone with a brain.

And years from now, we'll still be asking the same stupid, very obviously answerable questions and all still acting oh so surpised about. Never really doing anything about anything but corwardly fighting wit...

i do drink soda. But, like most say, in moderation. I say thats all there needs to be - moderation, a limit. i agree that people should make their own choices - but in some cases their bad choices end up negatively affecting everyone else (taxes to pay for medical bills associated with obesity). I do NOT, on the other hand, blame soda completely. So many other things - fast food, deserts, fried foods, large portions, etc. I also think younger people should be educated more - young parents think giving their kids apple juice is a good choice. WRONG. they have no idea how much sugar is in there. But like i said, its all about MODERATION, CONTROL, AND LIMITS.

I do drink soda, but I limit what I drink. I drink sugar free whenever possible and only drink one a day whenever possible. My soda consumption is WAY down from what it used to be. Instead, I drink water or maybe green tea or coffee (mornings only on that). If I can't stand the thought of plain water, I'll flavor it. It's helping, too.

It won't kill you or do anything that bad, but it still can be an addiction. It's only bad if you drink 5-6 a day, but if you drink 1-2 a day, it's up to you if you want to stop or not.
