The U.S. Navy's new class of carriers will be the first to go without urinals, a decision made in part to give the service flexibility in accommodating female sailors, the Navy says.

The change heralded by the Gerald R. Ford class of carriers starting with the namesake carrier due in late 2015 is one of a number of new features meant to improve sailors' quality of life and reduce maintenance costs, Capt. Chris Meyer said Wednesday. Do you think the Navy is stronger by being "gender neutral"?

Space is a valuable commodity on a naval vessel, urinals take up less space and use less water than a standard toilet. Those two reasons are enough to say that the mens head should have them.

actually I don't see how "gender neutral" can make one weaker or stronger, its just a bathroom being changed, if they don't add more toilets then it would just mean its cheaper

Only for idiots let's be honest if they don't have the discipline to keep it in their pants they make for crappy soldiers anyways.
  • John Hall Metaldane 2012/07/17 13:09:04
    John Hall
That discipline works both ways there are woman who have sexual feelings and who party and when you put these 2 together with men who do the same you have created problems .

I was talking about both genders and like I said if they're undisciplined enough that they can't even work alongside the opposite gender then they'd make crappy soldiers in the first place.

I was going by the keep it in your pants and it's not how they work together it's what they do on there offtime .

Well they're expected to have discipline then too and if you give a good enough punishment for it and they won't chance it.

i can tell you as a marine that ive seen people get punished for fraternizing and they do it again. sex is a very powerful tool .

I'm not a fan of political correctness in the military...moving women onboard the ships was an unmitigated disaster...women getting pregnant to avoid sea time...women threatening men with sexual harassment. I remember when our ship got 160 women onboard our ship and in less than 6 months the original 160 was halved due to pregnancy and another 80 women were brought on board to maintain their numbers...then of course these pregnant women were put on shore stations while they were pregnant, which screwed up sea/shore rotations for male sailors...being a photomate I remember photolabs overstaffed with pregnant sailors, male photomates were extended onboard ships or forced to forego shore duty and got sent to another ship...meanwhile a female sailor got to stay ashore and enjoy a cushy job....also pregnant women got out of working with chemistry, didn't have to work on clean-up assignments...some of these women worked the system and pissed off other shipmates...

This makes me ill. The effort for there to be one sex nationwide continues.

Men and women are designed differently. The U.S. will be responsible for its own demise with nonsense like this.

The strive for equality has become the strive to be like men. I cannot support that. Ever.
