I was bullied so I know. These are the words I should definitely live by because the bullies said I was weird, awkward, not cool etc.
I shouldn't let others define me but as a teenager, it is hard for me to not let others define me. I am slowly starting to realize to define myself and care what I think of myself.

I was bullied a lot growing up, mostly by relatives. I guess it made them feel better about themselves to belittle me. When I was in school I was a loner. I did get into a few fights standing up for myself or my sister. In my mid 20's I finally decided to stand up to those in my family who were always putting me down, none of them seem to want to have anything to do with me now. I guess they can dish it out but they can't take it.

Besides, even I would have a hard time defining my life? The people I have met, and places and things I've done, would not be believable if it was written in a book..

With age I learned to "fight back better" to protect my children from backlash, but still taught my kids to stand up fight for what they believe in and not be bullied. I also tried to teach them to not bully others, when fighting for something, the line is hard to see and easy to cross.

My mother used to get so angry at me becase I would not fight back--you see I use to be a "People Pleaser"--but no more--I finally learned how to say no without feeling guilty. Yes I can stand up for myself.

It is inadmissible that weaker ones or isolated individuals are bullied and/or abused. Violence generates violence and can destroy health and lives irrevocably.

Every human has a right to decent living and to respect.

So, don't just watch when somebody is being bullied - act and, if needed, call for help.
