Dodge County, Neb., will not print its election materials in Spanish despite having a 10 percent Hispanic population, The Associated Press reported.

According to the news outlet, County Clerk Fred Mytty told supervisors that bilingual ballots are required only if a minority population within a district exceeds 5 percent and has a low literacy rate.

He noted that the schools in the area have done a good job of raising the literacy rate so that it is above the national average.

If they're going to live here, and are eligible to vote, they should at least be able to read a ballot. Plus there are programs for voter assistance ...blind people can vote too. So I see no need for the added expense of printing ballots in multiple languages.

(Why is it people all over the world can speak english, often better than many in the US, yet people in an adjoining country sneaking in here are supposedly completely ignorant of it?)

English should be the ONLY language on a ballet in the USA period. If people of other languages want the ballets in their language they should pay for the cost.
