According to a new survey out of the U.K., approximately one third of people with tattoos, regret ever getting one. Further, the survey went on to report that men were more likely to have regret over a tattoo than women. The survey included 580 responses (53 percent men, 47 percent women) from people ages 16 and older (half of them were older than age 40), who had visible tattoos.

HUFFINGTONPOST.COM reports:
Nearly a third of people with tattoos regret getting one, according to a small new survey out of the United Kingdom. The survey findings, presented at the annual meeting of the British Association of Dermatologists, showed that men were more likely to have tattoo regret than women.

I'm very proud of my tattoo,I got it when I was 16yrs of age and it was illegal at the time.

I saw motorcycles as almost a religion and Harley Davidson were the pick of the crop then and still it seems now...

A survey of 580 people? That means very little.

I don't have one. But for a long time I was thinking about getting one of my horse. I am sure glad I never did it. But now I am toying with the idea of the rebel alliance from star wars as a way to say something. Not sure about it and I might never do it.

proud of 2 of them but the other 3 I would like to get removed. Soon it will be cheaper b/c so many young people are getting tatts these days on their arms, wrists, ears and necks , many will want them removed in a few years. I'll get mine removed when the price goes down.

Depending on their size a cover up tat may be the way to go.

I understand. I thought about having one covered but decided even though it is about my ex wife I still like the tat . It's a long story but it is a naked hooker nun in a stained glass window. All mine can be covered when I want so that is a plus.

I am well and business is picking up again I think. Hope all is well for you.

    NO, meant to say NO.

Wait, and with the remaining 66.6 %, 1/2 of them will regret it.

I think is's a fad now days, and tattoo's through it's history is looked upon as "low class".

Yes, I have one, but never another.

I don't think it's looked at as low class as it use to be. Considering the amount of famous people getting them done as well. But I do know what you're saying & that's why the placement should have plenty of thought put into it.

They all have dedication to my life, my heritage (Russia and Japan), my mother (her date of birth & death) and traces of her artwork (an amazing artist she was), I will get a tattoo for the yin yang, soon. I've designed all my tattoos, apart my mother's art.

I've always wanted tattoos as a young boy, before tattoos became a fad, so it's not for fashion at all!

I am quite proud of it, actually. I drew my own design, shopped around until I met an artist who did a quality rendering of it, and then got it done. I didn't drunkenly stumble into a parlor and pick a generic design off of the wall. So no, I don't have any regrets at all.

And this "I didn't drunkenly stumble into a parlor and pick a generic design off of the wall",...

I just thought your name and this statement was funny together.

Have you ever drunkenly done anything close to this or just seen others do it.

    Ha, don't answer that.

I don't have one...yet. I think I want one...I have an idea for one, a personal matter. However, I also want to wait until I'm a little older to be sure it's not a decision I'll regret. I also want to be sure I get it right, not just for a senseless tattoo. I want it to mean something.

Proud or not, I dont know. There is no pride or regret involved in it. I have a tattoo and couldnt imagine regretting it, because really, whats the reason to regret it? Is it harming someone? Only lost souls who are overly concerned with external judgements and image would regret something like that. They are just self-conscious, pathetic people driven by other peoples view of them or concerns of what others might think. I personally dont care, so there would be no regret. I think someone who is truely comfortable in their skin and respects themselves wouldnt waste time being concerned with a mark on their skin.
