National Grid Power Outage: Are you prepared for a power outage?

The National Grid PLc has reported that a horrendous snow and ice storm has knocked out power to nearly 1 million homes and businesses all across New York and New England. The National Grid has also informed their customers that it may take several days to restore the power. Roads have had to been shut and Government offices have also closed. Neighboring state, Massachusetts, has sent help, via 500 National Guard troops to clear roads and help residents.
Think about having to live without power for a couple days, in the winter, in New York... are you prepared?
Do you have enough supplies not to starve, and to stay warm?

It has happened in NY before althought the last time I had a fire place moved all the animals into the living room and burned anything made of wood or paper. I'll really be in trouble this time no fireplace and no generator food wise I am prepared blankets and such candles flashlights and batteries. What about propane or kerosene heaters ?
Thanks.
