My kids are confused; Is it "Jack & Jill went up the Hill", or "Jack & Zak"?

Whoever it was, Jack and Jill, or Jack and Zack, or Jane and Jill, it's a weird nursery rhyme. Just like so many nursery rhymes. They both fell down the hill, and broke their crowns? What kind of children's nursery rhyme is that? Is it supposed to teach them not to go up a hill? And not to fetch water? Maybe it's supposed to teach them that if THEY DO go up a hill to fetch water, that they need to be careful that they don't fall down the hill afterwards? Whatever? I don't think that I've ever sent my children "up" a hill to fetch water, that I can remember? How about the woman that lived in a shoe? She had so many children, that she didn't know what to do? Sounds to me like she knew just what she needed to do to get pregnant? And now she's stuck with the consequences....LOTS OF CHILDREN! What she "didn't" know what to do, is how to use contraception! And where is the father? Oh, that's right. That's another question, about child support. :-)

many original nursery rhymes and fairy tales are scary as hell ... little red riding hood discovering a sharp and bloody-toothed wolf in her grandmother's bed? hansel and gretel pushing an old lady into an oven! yikes!

Jack and Jill is the original. Jack and Zak is some made up PC garbage.

I am pretty sure it has always been Jack and Jill.... where did they hear Jack and Zak?

depends ... if we're talking about the Castro District in San Francisco, it could very well be Jack and Bill (which is more in keeping with the original and as alliterative as Jack and Zak)
