I could go with the sleek and modern version too, but like with any dress it would depend on her shoulders and chest. I'm not trying to offend you ladies, but sometimes traditional strapless dresses don't work because of the lack of support.

I love this dress, but instead of the fully purple back mabye instead have like squirls of purple instead.

Rock on! I love the image. I think i need to start a new poll about weddings- me and mine had a great pub table chat about how stupid the costs of weddings have got and what menas something to us. We decided the best weddings are the different ones where the guests get to contribute to the day. Look out for me blogging and polling on the subject.

Exactly! I saw it as a choice- spend a year of my life and my nest egg organising an extravagganza i'll be too caught up in the moment to remember properly, or have a huge party for my relatives where they live and a tiny wedding i'd rememebr every detail of. I went for the latter and am still showing off wedding photos three years later!

no beads. no bows. no fouf. just something plain and fitted. maybe 40s if i'm going vintage.

Love 40s, love the idea! My grandma married just in or just after the war in a dress she borrowed (it was like that back then) which i swear i saw in the Imperial War Museum when i was a teen. the 'Forties Fashion & The New Look' exhibition taught me much:
Never buy an item when you can turn an old one into it.
A bucket of dye re-maketh the wardrobe.
Nipped in waists will always look great on women and never go out of fashion.
There are a million & one uses for acres of parachute silk.
And the ultimate:
Never pay when you can fake it- gravy browning & eyeliner stockings are the old fake tan!

define middleage! Glamour should always be age appropriate, but each woman is different- i'd love to hear your take on it...?

i want something that is an ivory color with lavender somewhere in there none of that whole princess frilly crab. think of a midevil (spelling wrong) dress that is simple yet elegent. i hope that helps.

Something simple. Of course it would now have to be a dress for renewing vows since I've been married for 42 yrs. and borrowed the dress I wore.

That isn't what I ended up with though, I got a white one that I didn't really like, but hey, I didn't pay for it.

I'd like a very casual wedding in Hawaii so no nice fancy white dress for me. I'd rather wear a coconut bra and a hula skirt.

Pretty much like the one in the 'vintage' picture. :o) I still think (many years later) that my dress was/is the prettiest ever!

My wife's dress looked great on her! I like the classic/traditional dress for such a traditional event (wedding).

Big princess no... nice and fitting... but I did have a long train that detached. Honey, if you can't remember there's a picture in our bedroom by your nightstand. I'm the one in white you are in a black tux. :)

doh! I'll sleep on the couch tonight (but only after I look at the picture again). Actually, I _totally_ remember the dress and how beautiful you looked (and still look). I guess men just have a hard time describing dresses. I think of it as a princess dress because of the frills and long train.

Nice try on the save but no it didn't work... now the pillow and blanket are on the couch waiting. ;) Just kidding...
