In life most people tread the trauma of being different. So called "freaks" come into the world different. by making peace with there tragic the become extraordinary people.
Extraordinary is the best word i can use to describe this human oddity know commonly as The Elephant Man. His real name was John Merrick and this is his story.

He was being exhibited in a empty shack by a man named of Tom Norman to make alot of money off him. a man named Sir Fredrick Treves saw the elephantman
and realized that he had found a medical phenomenon. He asked that he be brought to his office in London where he was lecturing human anatomy. he gave John his card and arranged to have him admitted in secret. Merrick came to him that night. He had to use a disguised so that he would not be mobbed by the crowed and seized by the police.

Treves said he had never seen suck a bizarre case through his study as Merricks. His scientific curiosity arou... begin to exam and photograph him.
the photograph that were taken that night is the one i put at the top.
Treves said he was the most pathetic specimen of humanity he had ever seen.
that his soul idea was to creep into the dark and hide

at the age of 21 he was man without hope with no past to look back on and no future to look forward too.
Treves could not help him medically and had no authorization to take him in as a charity case. Merrik had no choice but to go back to his bleak life with the showmen.

It was not till two years later that Treves was destine to meet Merrick again. abandon by the showmen penny-less and helpless he was rescued by the police from an angry mob. and asked to be brought to doctor Treves now holding higher authority gave Merrick two rooms in which he could live.
he discover that Merricks body conceals an intelligent sensitive&nb... being.
Treves became determent to introduce Merrick to men and woman as a normal intelligent man and not as a creature of deformity

He asked a friend if she could enter Merricks room with a smile wish him good morning and shake him by the hand. Merrick was overwhelm he said she was the first woman who had ever smiled at him. the first who had ever shaken his hand.
soon many people wanted to see him and greet him with a smile.
The last five years of his life were the happiest he had ever know.

His life was cut short because of his determination to be like other people. because of his large head he was forced to sleep sitting up. One afternoon he attempted to sleep prone and dislocated his neck. He was found dead in bed at the young age of 28

Most people thought John Merrick was monstrous but people that knew him knew that if we could see his spirit we would see the form of a upstanding heroic man
with eyes that flash undoubted courage. John Merrick met tragic and fought it to a stand still and with courage and love build a life.

He was very commendable. And it is very unfortunate that his disease defined him, possibly because of his short life span.
