My best friend is joining the army... help!?!

U should keep in contact with him. Pray that he will be ok and hope for the best. That's what I do with my bros although they are not in the army but they live as far as up from 100-4000 miles away. I will pray for you and I wish u the best.oh and I'm harmony

Once he gets settled, get his new e-mail address and try to keep in touch that way. My son and I communicated that way for a few months.

It's his decision. Respect that and you will keep your friend.

If this is what he really wants to do, and he's as good a friend as you say, then tell him how much you'll miss him and support his decision 100%.

Tell him how proud that you are of him for joining the Army and doing one of the most important things that he will ever do in his life. Support him 100% during his time in the service.

I know he's your best guy friend but come on we've tried to keep out of the military before and it worked....for a little bit! this will be a good experience for him, he can DO something with his life instead of work at wendy's! he's gonna be fighting for you....and me! I know its hard, but you really are strong! Lean on God right now thats what you have to do and support him!

Well, you can look at this either of two ways.

That he is nuts! That for him to succumb to supporting the military structure is insane! That this act basically supports the infrastructure that not only intimidates, manipulates, and coerces, countries around the world, to support the new world order. That we should not only NOT continue to support this structure, but make the effort to protest against the violence that this agenda creates.

Or,

Do everything to support this young man for his bravery. Because at the end of the day, even though our Government is not perfect, and does take advantage, the underlying goal of our military should always be to protect the American Citizen. And with that, these people that make the sacrifice to donate several years of their life to that duty, should be applauded, and held at a higher standard than the majority of the American Society.

Either one. Take your pick.

even though he will be missing an important process in your life he is going to serve and protect his country, including u. this is his decision,so be suportive of his decision. and the longer you are apart the better the reunion will be, wether in this life or the next.

a ploy mo ve for him possibly. he can learn a skill, get paid, sit out the bad economy then be set when things get better.

Have someone Video your graduation and someone take lots of photos. Then write to each other. He can see the video when he gets back, you can make a big Welcome Home Party. He is sure to get homesick, worried, not want to have a heart to heart with his comrades, but I bet he would be so happy if you two could write back and forth.

Think of it as a new level of friendship and you can learn about things through your friend's eyes you will never get the chance to see.

Many people are coming back from this war and not adjusting well.

Have you ever seen someone tie a string or rope around themselves before entering some place dangerous so even though they can't see another person they can feel the rope and they know no matter what happens, someone is waiting in some place safe to get them out.

You can be that person waiting and your letters can be his rope.

Your welcome. When he first gets in, he will be doing a lot of training, but after that, there is a lot of downtime. A close friend of mine told me this, "You could have the worst day, you have some rashes in unpleasant places from heat, your clothes are muddy and sandy, your dog tags are bouncing and your watching the sun glare off them, then you see the mail guy. You hold your breathe, so many letters, trying not to get your hopes up, but your standing there hearing names roll. Then you hear yours called. There is nothing in the world that compares to the sound of your voice being called out from the post man!"
