brothers and sisters i was in san francisco and i was walking to mosque in my top and across the road from me were college students and they were shouting terrorist and saying that i must go back to my own country. If i was in south africa and someone said that to me theyd get a fight they will never forget. but i left it like that and the next day i saw one of them having lunch with a muslim girl how does that work.

There are a lot of Muslims in this area, and the ones I've met or worked with all seem like they don't want anything to do with the whole terrorist thing. They might be a little paranoid, though, because of public preconception and stigma.

They are people. Most of them are people that are like you and I. There's just some parts of their religion I have issues with. In the US they have constitutional right of Freedom of Speech so they can say want they like as far as I know.

I've taught and lived in South Africa for 18 months, use you time in the US to study and keep you eye on your goal. There are asshats in everywhere and people are two-faced and hypocrites if they are honest.

You got off easy. We're a LOT more tolerant of Muslims than Muslim countries are of us. The fact that you have a mosque to walk to is a testament to that.

When a Westerner walks around in a Muslim country, he/she is open game.

Most of us in the West don't hate Muslims. Seems like most Muslims hate the West, though. Like they hate women. And Christians. And Jews. And Muslims of other sects. Etc.

I'm sorry that those kids yelled at you. There's no excuse for that. I think that most Muslims are people pretty much like us. They have different customs, dress and worship differently but they love their families, want a good home, are peaceful and want to co-exist with others. Unfortunately, because of 9/11 and the ongoing trouble in the middle east, Muslims have been stereotyped as terrorists. There are some radical Muslims who would do violence to us if they could and they give the rest a bad name. I hope that over time things will calm down and we can all live in peace.

don't need to kill to instill terror..picketing funerals and telling people they should die is terror enough

...whereas Islamic terrorists simply blow themselves up in crowds of innocent people. Yeah, I can see how you'd think the WBC are the REAL terrorists. Americans with signs are so much more of a threat than Third World mass murderers.

Would the WBC be allowed to operate in Belize, I wonder?

You believe what, exactly? That the WBC could set up shop in Belize and protest at funerals without being arrested? I know you have a constitutional provision for the freedom of speech there-- would you be willing to stand up for their rights, even if you disagreed with them?

Or, would you label them as 'terrorists' and have them silenced and hauled away?

But as hard as it is, try not to take notice. They're just stupid and don't know how hurtful they're being.

As an American, a country founded on religious freedom let us not forget! Muslims are just people with different views, radicals should not define the majority.
