I'm talking about cold blooded Murder, where they have killed more then one person. I feel that putting them in prison for life is letting them get away with murder. What do you think?

Anyone who thinks that hard time in prison without hope of release is "getting away with murder" doesn't know much about what life is like in prison.

I believe in a HIGHER power greater than me, and if that person does not repent and ask for forgiveness, then there is NOTHING we can do for that person. What's done is done. Killing that person (death penalty) is NOT going to bring our loved ones back. I'd rather see that person work in a prision camp, breaking rocks for the rest of their lives. Feeding them bread, water, veggies... no teleivison, movies, books. Just a lifetime of misery.

50 grand a year to keep vermin in prison. How does that make any sense at all?

Imagine spending 40,50,60,70 years in prison. The same cell, 23 hours a day, 7 days a week, every week of your life.

Not exactly getting away with it.

As long as you're willing to pop $50,000 a year per prisoner to pay for it.

True. But with all the appeals and lengthy court times it takes to execute a person in America, I'd bet money that it probably costs more to execute someone in the US (on average) then it does to lock them up for life.

Well thought out and you made me think. As a former American I usually try to seek solutions within "the system". Too late for that now.
It's always about money on the planet today except in certain circumstances, like ours. Folks speak of the sanctity of life and the horror of mistaken executions all the time. But let's remember that the kids sent to be cannon fodder are labeled heroes and they're deaths celebrated. Obushma can try to justify American military action till the hogs eat Pa but it won't fly. Leaders are still under the impression a limited war can "work". But a life is a life and both incarceration and war cost lives. If you're gonna fight, fight. If you're gonna execute someone, get to it. Keeping folks like Charles Manson alive is just, well; stupid.

Forgive the rant please but this is a touchy subject here and we do have the death penalty for many crimes. Haven't used it in over 40 years. Yet.

I don't think so, sometimes death is too good for them.

Look at Ian Brady, the moors murderer who cold bloodedly murdered several children with his partner Moira Hindley. He has been begging the authorities to let him die and has even gone on hunger strike in a bid to end his own life.

He is currently being force fed to keep him alive.

Which do you think is the worse punishment?

so it could be either way, If he was put to death then it would be as if he got away with it! I guess it depends on the situation.

I know the story of a well connected guy that was on deathrow he had alot of money but still had "enemies" on the outside world so what does he do he hires some folks since he is already gonna 'die" anyway to go and kill his enemies and then has them killed!. The police tracked him down as being a suspect initially then realise that he was the murderer but couldnt pin it on him anyway because he was gonna die on the row soon.
