Hachiko: A Dog's Tale

Hachiko is a widely known Akita Dog in Japan, but for us Americans- we do not know his tale. An American re-telling of the 1987 film, Hachiko: A Dog's Story rewrites the tale of a University Professor who happens to find a puppy at the train station on his way home. Hoping the owner will show up and claim the dog, he tries to give him to the station's attendant to keep safe. But circumstances turn and the Professor ends up housing the puppy himself, waiting for the owner's to show up. On his dog tag there is a clue to where he came from, the professor goes to an old friend in hopes to solve the mystery- only to find out he came from Japan, and the symbol on his collar means 'Hachi' or '8'. When time goes by, the bond between the professor and the puppy is apparent even to the professor's wife- and she decides to keep Hachi.
The story then follows the routines of the professor and Hachi, he would bid farewell to his companion and head off to the train station. And each afternoon, when he returned to the station- he would find Hachi right outside waiting for him. This routine continued, and attracted the attention of others who frequented the station- Making Hachi a known canine to all. But one day after the professor had already left for the day he suffered a stroke and died before he could come home and greet Hachi.
After his owner's death, Hachi loyally showed up infront of the station everyday for the past ten years, waiting for his owner to come home.

Hachiko is a symbol for Loyalty in Japan, and after watching such a movie you will find yourself wondering why you haven't heard of him sooner. It's a promised tear jerker, and will make you want to hug your pet throughout the whole movie.

You!
