Sweet or tacky? the only options?
How about UNNECESSARY... But if you insist on getting a tat, better to have something "sweet" written about your child, than say, getting some random tat declaring your love for your latest boyfriend.. Or worst yet, thinking you are, and wanting to be a ghetto - hoodrat and having "Thug Life' written on your knuckles.
Dang. That only proves that you can take some folks out of the hood/trailerpark/ghetto, but you CAN'T take that trailerhood mentality out of them.
Rhianna - what a douche she's turned into.

You already know that Angelina Jolie has tattoos of the birthplace coordinates of all of her children. But now, "real" women (aka non-Hollywood) are following suit.

Amber Adams, mother of six, has three tattoos that celebrate her three older children. "This is a sweet pea, and right here is the Z for her initial," she told KDFW Fox 4 Dallas-Fort Worth. "I call it my flower garden on my feet. I'll be able to tell [my kids], 'You know what? This is the reason I got this and this is why this is so special to me because you're special to me.'"
Adams' mom, however, wasn't a fan. "Very conservative so for me to have gotten a tattoo my mother about killed me," she told Fox 4.
In other celebrity tattoo news, Rihanna tweeted a photo of her latest tats: letters that spell out "Thug Life" across her knuckles in a pale pink ink.

And Marc Anthony has honored his new girlfriend, Venezuelan model Shannon de Lima, with a new tattoo of the Statue of Liberty over his "Jennifer" wrist tat, TMZ reports (since de Lima "freed” him from his past).
Do you think "mommy tattoos" are a sweet way to celebrate a child? Or do they look kind of tacky, and, at times, trashy?

I have 6 tattoos and I am neither skanky, whorish, trailer trash nor any of the other aforementioned derogatory terms. I am a mother of 6 children, 6 grandchildren and also very intelligent and successful in my career. Everyone is entitled to express themselves as they see fit. Whether we agree with their means of expression is irrelevant and they should not be judged by small minded people. What it boils down to is respect.
Should just leave well enough alone.
Do they consider the amish to be technophiles?
Do they shave or get haircuts?
How far should a reasonable person be expected to carry this notion that one should have everything one needs at birth and that anything else is something that one should not have?
Your attitude concerning what a disaster it is to 'waste' time and money on tattoos seems to indicate that you esteem money as more important than art and experience- everyone does not value the same things that you do, to the same degree that you do.
