You!

You're going away for the weekend. Coming with are your wife, your 7 year old daughter and your 7 year old niece, who is your daughter's best friend.

The house you're staying in backs onto a secluded beach. The girls ask if they can go for a swim but you tell them just to stay on the beach until you've unpacked.

Five minutes later you hear a scream. You run down to the beach to see that the girls have ignored what you said and have gone for a swim. There is no one else on the beach and the girls are both caught in a rip current.

Both girls are really struggling, especially your niece who is a weaker swimmer than your daughter. You need to decide who to rescue. You have the strength and energy to rescue them both but they are quite far apart so you can only swim to them one at a time.

Your niece is really struggling to keep her head above the water and if you rescue your daughter first, there is little to no chance that your niece will survive long enough to be rescued as well.

Your daughter is a much stronger swimmer. But even so, if you rescue your niece first, there's a 50/50 chance your daughter will have drowned by the time you reach her.

Who do you rescue first?

I'd go with the one that needs it most urgently and just hope I could make it back in time to get my daughter. Just do your best to save both

Never had kids so I'm just shooting from the hip, here. I guess I'd have to ensure the safety of my daughter first and then do everything I could to save the other one.
