We feel guilty when we drop $50 on a perfume, never mind $1 million. Celebrity jeweler Martin Katz partnered with designers at DKNY to create perhaps the world's fanciest fragrance, which will be sold to benefit the international charity Action Against Hunger, according to The Daily Mail.
So why the hefty price tag? The perfume bottle, carved from yellow and white gold, is encrusted with 2,700 round brilliant white diamonds weighing 15.17 carats. The Manhattan skyline is shaped out of 183 golden yellow sapphires, which are set into top quality white gold, according to the Mail. The cap is topped off with a 2.43 carat flawless vivid yellow canary diamond, and the whole product took more than 1,500 hours to make.
Victoria's Secret model Chanel Iman launched the scent at the DKNY store in New York this week (no, you don't get a date with her when you spend the $1 million). While this perfume is certainly for a good cause, the finished product is kind of tacky and ostentatious. Oh well -- we don't exactly have a million bucks to drop on a perfume anyway. And even if we did, we're not sure this one would be for us. What do you think?
It kind of reminds me of Faberge eggs:
