If Michelle Obama wears something cheap, it makes news. If she wears something expensive, it makes news. And if she wears something reasonably priced, guess what? It makes news.
The first lady wore an $86 red-and-white checkered ASOS dress on Sunday in Concord, N.H., where she was supporting troops and their families at the Joining Forces Cookout for National Guard and Reserve and Active Duty members, the "Today" show reports.

We can't deny that the dress, from the British brand ASOS, is perfect for a summer barbecue, even if she does kind of resemble a tablecloth. The dress also has a bit of a 1950s suburban housewife feel, which seems to be the look she was going for.
She did, however, stamp her signature style on the look with a red patent leather belt and hoop earrings.
In other M.O. news, the first lady said she never wants to go into politics and sometimes resents sharing her husband with the world, but she feels, "this is our duty." She also praised McDonald's for adding fruit and veggies to Happy Meals.
But back to fashion, do you think Obama pulled off the look? Or do you kind of want to spread the dress over the table and eat corn on the cob over it?

Someone should do a referendum about exactly how much is an appropriate amount of money for a first lady to spend on a dress ;) Then Michelle can always spend that amount and no one can complain.
It's like watching a strange version of Leave it to Beaver episode.
You can't have it both ways you silly RWNJ's
