Michelle Obama Dons a $6,800 Jacket: Does it Offend You When the First Lady Wears Expensive Clothes?

You!

Michelle Obama wore an exquisite J. Mendel cap sleeve jacket to the London Olympics reception -- and there's no denying it's gorgeous -- but there is some controversy over the price: $6,800. Check out the dud... and the critical reactions in the video below!

It almost seems like the First Lady can't win because she has also been criticized for wearing "cheap" clothing, but that seems to be the status quo for females in the political world. When you see the First Lady (any First Lady) wearing expensive clothes like this, does it seem like she's flaunting her wealth like some claim. Does it offend you? Or does it go with the territory of being married to the President of the United States?

EXAMINER.COM reports:
Move over, Ann Romney. It looks like you’ve been outspent in the wardrobe department by First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama.

Only because the left made such a huge deal over Ann Romney's clothes and even Sarah Palin's.

Oh, my god, seriously? There are more important things to worry about than what the First Lady is seen wearing. People just want something to nitpick about.

You need to stop looking at your avatar. That should help you tremendously with your vomiting problem. I almost vomited myself after looking at it..I hope it smells better than it looks.

This is what's wrong with America we try to find fault in our past present and future president and their wives, instead of finding a solution and help our leader, most people who complain do not vote or worse not even registered to vote but yet they want to complain bull crap.

No more than it did when Nancy Reagan bought expensive clothes. It is their money, right? If taxpayers are funding it, then yes, I object.

RW's bitch no matter what she wears. The First Lady of the U.S. represents the country and should dress the parts. Showing up at an Olympic Gala in Martha Stewart for Wal-Mart doesn't cut it.

That only your opinion. I think she looks absolutely lovely and appropriate for the occasion. You and/or yours should look so "hoochie".. Not at all matronly, dowdy and frumpy looking like Laura Bush.

I doubt that this "transparent" white house would ever permit an independent inquiry.

no why would it? the president make $450,000 a year. they are millionaires to boot. she could afford it if they wanted it. i don't think they are doing anything any other presidential family has done before them.

If she were the wife of some north side rabble-rouser (community organizer) neither would I.

Most of us would step up to the high expectations if we became First Lady, out of respect for the presidency. I certainly would always try to look my best, and never trashy.

Jacqueline Kennedy was the ideal modern First Lady. I miss those days so much.

It offends me that this woman who has never accomplished anything that tax payers didn't give her, that she committed crimes that got her disbarred, that would have landed anyone else in prison, yet she is left in the whitehouse, a place that should be reserved for the best and finest, not a couple of affirmative action pretenders.

Goes to show what our tax money is being wasted on. Whether it's $6,800 for a pipe wrench or $6,800 for a piece of clothing, they just can't control their spending. We are their piggy bank. The price doesn't have to be outrageous for the clothing to look expensive.

I wouldn't say it "offends" me. It definitely seems like a waste of money but I'm kind of used to the fact that famous people spend way too much on clothes and everything else.
