McDonald's Posts Calorie Counts on Drive-Through Menu: Will It Affect What You Order?

McDonald's will now be posting calorie counts of menu items on drive-through windows. The chain has offered nutritional information for anyone who requests it, but this new addition will now be available to all diners.

But in terms of it affecting menu choices? McDonald's President Jan Fields says that in the cities where calorie counts are already in place, the numbers have not affected consumers' choices: "When it's all said and done, the menu mix doesn't change," she said. "But I do think people feel better knowing this information."

FITSUGAR.COM reports:
McDonald's has a new addition to its drive-through window: calorie counts. Certain locations like New York City, Philadelphia, and the state of California have already required that calorie counts be posted, but McDonald's has decided to take the initiative nationwide.

I saw one burger that was 800 calories.... you are techincally only supposed to have 1200 - 1500 (cant remeber exactly is all depends on the person such as their gender, age and activity level) calories a day... that one burger would be almost all your days worth of calories, plus if you get a drink or fries with it..... thats like eating your healthy amount of calories for the whole day in one sitting. Nevermind too all the sodium, grease, grams of fat, ect that are in that must be unbelievably high too. Plus empty fat caloried filled food like that crap will leave you feeling hungry sooner after you eat the meal then if you ate a banana and a bunch of carrots which would fill you up quicker and keep you fuller longer and also make you feel better about yourself physically and emotionally, after eating fast food I feel bad in every way. I am very overweight and trying to lose weight via a better food lifestyle and going to the gym everyday and have been very succesful already with the info I have been provided. I still eat plenty of healthy meats for protein and choose an apple over say doritos.

I go to McDonald's in moderation. These nutritional information sheets are for consumer information. Unfortunately, Michelle Obama uses these information sheets as justification to shut down successful franchises that can feed sensible people on occasion when they need something fast and good.

Every one knows we need better nutrition, but the general food stamp mentality evades the intent of the system to get alcohol, cigarettes and other items that kids can't use. Perhaps we need to get rid of the obese factions of the government that over uses all the excesses! Michelle, you look better back in Chicago and out of our diets!

Everyone knows McDonald's is bad for you if you eat it on a regular basis. If I do get the craving for a Big Mac... the last thing I care about is how many calories it is...Just more government mandates at work... they can't fix the economy, but they can enforce calorie listings at fast food places...because that is SOOOO much more important.

I don't use the drive through, and I usually know what I'm going to order before I walk in--a Big Mac.

Now, if they published calorie counts on the inside menu board, I may start changing my order--to whatever item has the HIGHEST calorie count. I want calories, because I burn through them pretty quickly.

Here's a news flash...Food at McDonalds isn't healthy and it's full of calories. If you don't already know that you're kind of an idiot. If you eat too much I suggest you get on a stair master you pudgy bastards.

I like to know what I'm eating, and even though I don't calorie count or anything, it will be good to see whether my choice is REALLY bad for me. ;) ♥

Supersize Me is pathetic. The only point that poor excuse for a documentary made was if you overeat you get fat. Whoever doesn't know that is an idiot. It was a smear campaign conducted by him and his stupid liberal vegan wife. The man ate supersize meals for every meal and never exercised just to get fat and say "Look at how evil the McDonalds corporation is, they made me fat!!!!" It's pure liberal propaganda.

    It's not pathetic.
Surgeon General David Satcher: "Fast food is a major contributor to the obesity epidemic."
Stop throwing around "idiot", "stupid", "liberal". You can use all the viscous imagery you want, but the fact is fast food is terrible for you. Whether or not you liked Supersize Me, I don't care. It's just one of the many sources stating the nutritional facts.
As for your "liberal" comments, it's not wanted or needed. We're talking about McDonald's here.

There's no reason something that weighs less than my hand should be over 40% of my daily calorie intake.

There's much more to food than calories. The problem with fast food and convenience food is excess salt and sugar or fructose, chemicals, genetically-tampered substances, semi-sanitary handling, etc.
Dont forget that there are still many of us men who do physically demanding work, not vegetate behind a desk or drive the trucks that were made for women to drive, so we need all those calories.
