McDonalds is Overly Blamed for Obesity: Agree?

People make free choices. Parents can choose to buy their kids a healthy salad or a double-mc-whopper-bacon-cheeseburger-royale. McDonalds offers a variety of inexpensive foods to people who don't have a lot of time or money. And, McDonalds has competition. The fat-police do-gooders can open their own fast food chain to compete with McDonalds with the energy they spend lobbying government to outlaw our pursuit of Happy Meals.9GAG is the easiest way to have fun!

Today, I put up my "hot surfer-girl" pic. I'm in a summertime mood, and wish I had an ocean close by. Unfortunately, no oceans in Illinois. Boo-hoo.

McDonalds serves food to the public.

It is the public who decides how many meals they eat a day.

Those that blame McDonalds should remember, they have a choice to; be a glutton or eat all foods in moderation.

Parents have control over the steering wheel. If their kids control them, then its their fault not McDonald's.

In the commercials, you can obviously see that McDonalds is targeting kids more than they target adults. But all in all, I'm just not very sure...

its the kids choice what they want, but the adult's choice to pay for it. why not persuade their kid to eat a salad, sorry... that would be asking a person to take on not just their own responsibility but also their child's... never mind....

Nobody stuffed the fast food down the kid's throat, and nobody forced the parent to buy it rather than going home and cooking something.

Exactly! If there is a crack dealer on the corner of my block, does that mean I will become addicted to crack? No, of course not. Besides, McD's has salads, and they have small items you can buy, if you are limiting your calories, but enjoy a burger for lunch. YOu don't have to order the large size, and include fries, etc.

There's nothing wrong with McDonald's once in a while but you can't eat at these types of places everyday and expect not to gain weight. I wouldn't take a kid to McDonald's and expect him to really want a salad. I mean, really?

I worked for McDonald's as a teenager, ate the food a nd I was still skinny. Was prolly in my genes. But I remember tons of families eating there all the time! They were very obese and the parents totally are responsible! Kids eat like their parents, they need to take responsibility for what they teach their kids to do at a early age.... Just sayin?!?!?!

We will always blame someone else regardless, no accountability... You choose the way you live your life, everything is depending on how you grew up... If your parents have been taking you to McDonalds since you were little, we can blame your parents to doing so.... we will never finish talking about this. It's your choice to go eat at McDonald’s, if you think their food is making you fat, stop going and move on and stop the drama....

Sorry, I think I may have misread the question.
Until McDonald's and other fast food companies start sending employees to force their food down people's throats, people need to stop blaming fast food companies for making them fat. Unless one is mentally retarded or a young child, one should already be aware that the food at fast food establishments are loaded in grease and sodium. People choose to eat at such locations. They aren't forced to eat there by the establishments' owners or employees.

And if the "Fat Police" ever managed to take down McDonalds, then obviously Burger King, Hardee's, Arby's, Taco Bell... etc., would too quickly succumb to the whims of the Nanny State! Remember, Government knows best!

Besides, if all those McD's employees, plus YUM, plus Wendy's, BK, lost their jobs, the 20% of our population that are unemployed (no, not the fake number the govt uses 8.1%), would likely become 30%, true??? :o

    That pic is HILLARIOUS, btw!
