The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson got in a beef with Mitt Romney when Mitt wondered if the British had prepared adequately to host the Olympic games.

“There are some people who are coming from around the world who don’t yet know about all the preparations we’ve done to get London ready in the last seven years,” Johnson said. “I hear there’s a guy called Mitt Romney who wants to know whether we’re ready. He wants to know whether we’re ready.

“Are we ready? Are we ready? Yes, we are!” Johnson says, exhorting the crowd to cheer.

MAYBE NOT BORIS.

Few things terrify me more than the thought of a British dude coming at me ass-first in a love swing (and I have been shot at before).

I applaud Romney for making a refreshingly honest assessment of the logistics of London Games.... he has the expertise to make such a statement.

It's the kind of thing Boris does all the time - and he can pull it off without looking like "a wanker" - that's why he's so popular...

He's been looking like a wanker for years.
Anyway, I'd only consider a yes if the event was in some way related to Mitt Romney, which this wasn't.
This at best is someone a cheap revenge shot without logical standing.

British 'conservatives' are US liberals and those on the right of the conservatives are frequently racists.

There are no British conservatives that Americans would recognize.

I never knew the US liberal party was in favour of lower taxation and a smaller state, I thought they are often accused of being socialists.

You are right though, in that the parties on the right of our conservatives are usually racist.

There is no 'liberal' party in the US. Do you mean the Democrat party?

I find that the left and the extreme right in the UK are equally racist.

The BNP wants to favor Anglo-Britons and Labor party wants to put Anglo-Britons last.

Being a non-racist means race does not matter.

Race quotas for non-whites is identically racist as whites-only policies yet liberals give liberals a pass on racism while simultaneously shrieking of racism from the right.

    Interesting isn't it?
  • Wayne T... Daryl 2012/08/06 17:17:37
    Wayne TH G 333
Sorry yeah I meant the Democrats. I think the biggest difference between UK conservatives and US Republicans is on issues of morality. I've noticed that seems to be one of the biggest divisions in US politics but it's not really an issue in this country. All the major parties over here have similar views on gay marriage, gun controls, sentencing etc.. and religion is virtually never mentioned. The major dividing lines here are on taxation, welfare and ties with Europe.
  • Daryl Wayne T... 2012/08/06 20:26:21

Interesting how there is no diversity of thought in Europe.

    Why the bigotry against polygamy?
  • Wayne T... Daryl 2012/08/06 22:57:47
    Wayne TH G 333
People have diverse thoughts just like they would in any country. Morality or religious views are just a personal thing here and not really a political one. People just don't like their politicians moralising to them.

However if you do have a certain moral opinion on a subject and you think it's more important than economic policy you can vote for one of the many fringe parties or even start your own party. Unlike the US where you only have two options and if you don't agree with either, you have no voice at all.

I didn't know know that there was anymore bigotry against polygamy here than there is in America. I have never heard anyone even talk about it.
  • Daryl Wayne T... 2012/08/08 21:56:00 (edited)
    Daryl
Actually the government policies of the UK have created near consensus on the issue.

    Britons love big government.

A once proud nation is now a quivering collection of (mostly) cowards sucking their thumbs and looking for big-mommy government to care for them.

The US is just a few decades behind the UK.

    Shame.
