Mayo or Miracle Whip?

Some people don't like mayonnaise, some people don't like Miracle Whip. I like both, for different things -- BLT, turkey, ham sandwiches will have either, depending on my mood; sandwich salads like ham, tuna, egg will have mayo; salads will have mayo; asparagus will have mayo; burgers will have mayo (do NOT try to feed me a burger with Miracle Whip on it!)... Which do you prefer?

And not just any old mayo - it absolutely must be Hellman's (Bestfoods west of the Rockies).

I do that, too, once in awhile -- especially on tuna salad sandwiches! Thanks for the comment!

Kinda like sour mayo, huh? Sometimes I think I agree with you -- there are certainly a lot of times when I don't want it for whatever reason... Thanks for the comment!

I can deal with it sometimes, as long as it's real Miracle Whip -- that fake stuff is just disgusting, though. Fake mayo is icky,too... Thanks for the comment!

Miracle Whip does have that tangy zip -- sometimes, though, the tang takes away from whatever else is in the mix... Thanks for the comment!

It's better on sandwiches than on salads, and a little goes a long way! Sometimes, though, it's just what I'm craving...

Hellmann's! I will except almost nothing else for a substitue. I absolutely despise miracle whip. Gross, ick. My mom-mom used to make my sandwiches with MW, and I could never fully eat them. -shivers-

easy, take an egg yolk add some oil and **** (don't know the word in english, you do it with a fork not with a spoon) 'till it's mixed. than you add the salt and some lemmon juice, and there you have your mayo!

I moved to Texas from California six years ago and was shocked that I couldnt find BestFoods mayo on the shelves at the supermarket. Even worse, because of the humidity SF style sourdough bread is out of the question. A sandwich is nothing without Bestfoods on sourdough, I dont care what the filler is. At this time I'm in the middle of this custody battle (yes I won!!) and am going back and forth to CA about every 4 months. Every trip I'm loading up on the bread - I'm talking 10 or 15 loaves ( I have a friend who works in a bakery) and a case of BestFoods mayo. I do this like 4 times . A friend is visiting and sees all this mayo and asks why I bring BestFoods from CA. I explain how it's SOooo good on sandwichs and in potato/macaroni salads. She says yeah, I know how it tastes, why dont you just buy it here. Not available etc, all over again. She says "Read the Label - over here it's called Hellman's and you can find it in every store". Damn, did I feel dumb! Now I have my friend UPS me bread whenever I need it.

Yeah, they don't always make the whole Best Foods = Hellman's thing too clear, do they? I love that you stocked up on mayo and sourdough! I'm glad you figured out the mayo and getting a regular supply of sourdough -- you should be set now, right? (AND, it's awesome that you won!!! Congratulations!)
