OMG--MATTHEW HAS GOTTEN SO BIG--AND JUST ADORABLE TOO!!! AND A LITTLE LADY'S MAN TOO!
YOUR WIFE DID THE RIGHT THING--CHILDREN NEED TO BE WITH THEIR OWN PEERS
TO HAVE FUN AND EXPLORE! I REMEMBER WHEN MY 2 SONS WENT TO THEIR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. THEY WAVED AND SAID, HAVE A NICE DAY MOM. OTHER CHILDREN WERE CRYING, BUT NOT MINE. I KNOW YOU'LL THINK I WAS A CRAZY MOM, BUT I CALLED THEIR PEDIATRICIAN AND WANTED TO KNOW WHY THEY WEREN'T CRYING FOR ME. HE REASSURED ME THAT THEY WERE JUST WELL ADJUSTED. IT'S A SHOCKER NOT HAVING THEM WITH YOU, BUT IT IS FOR THEIR BENEFIT! AND AS I SEE FROM YOUR REPORT, MATTHEW IS WELL ADJUSTED.
ENJOY MATTHEW EVERYDAY!
THANKS FOR SHARING THIS GREAT UPDATE ON MATTHEW!

Matthew's First Day at School

I know I owe an update on Matthew. It’s been a while and some have been asking and a bit has happened since then, mostly Matthew progressing into his terrible twos. This blog will not bring you up to date. I’ll have to save that for another time. But it documents an important day, Matthew’s first day at school.
A two year old in school? Well, this is pre-pre-school. LOL. Yeah they have such a thing. Apparently it’s common now. My wife had started looking for one she liked a few months ago, and she checked several and settled on this one a few weeks ago. Actually I remember the email exchange we had. It went something like this.
She: I visited Kiddy Academy today. I liked it best. I signed him up for two half days a week.
Me: Oh great. When does he start?
She: July 10th.
Me: So soon. I thought he was going to start in September when he turns three?
She: Well I pushed it up.
Me: Why?
She: I think he needs it.
Reading between the lines, I couldn’t help feel that it’s not Matthew that needs it but her, but that’s another story. ;)
So today was the day. I happened to take the morning off, and I got him up. As it happened he slept late today, beyond his normal waking time.
“Wake up, wake up sleepy head, you have a busy day today.” And so I got him changed, teeth brushed, washed up, hair combed, and dressed. Not sure he really understood what it all meant. We packed his knapsack and took some pictures in front of the house.

My wife dropped him off. He was shy at first but within fifteen minutes he opened up. That’s typical for him. Once he started playing my wife left and he was fine the rest of the morning. It was even a struggle to get him away when it was time to leave.
He even gets a daily report to take home. Today’s report was the following, ghost written from his voice:
What we did today:
I played in the yard with my friends!! We continued exploring the theme light as a feather. We played at the sensory table using different bird items. We colored birds and decorated them with different color feathers. We reviewed the alphabet and numbers 1-10. We practiced our color of the month, yellow, and shape of the month, diamond. We sang our songs at circle time. We read a book called “Feathers for Lunch.”
How I felt today:
Happy to be at school!!
My friend of the day:
Chiara.
LOL, I never had a friend for the day, and certainly not one called Chiara.
