Seems to be unrelated. However, the commonality could mental illness and not ideological.

They happened around each other. So what. One occurred at a temple and probably because of some relgious reason or racism, the other happened at a movie theater because the guy was crazy (not saying the shooter/s here weren't crazy either). There's some differences here.

I'm pretty sure the guy was some idiot who thought they were Muslims. James Holmes was not mentally right. He's a psycho, Wisconsin guy was racist.

Wade Michael Page heinous act was totally motivated by bigotry and hate. As where James Holmes is a whackjob and killed at random not caring who he shot.

It was an awful domestic terrorist attack, but the motives of the gunmen seem to differ. One was a nut, one was a hateful terrorist.

These people want to go out in a blaze of perceived glory, instead of ending their sad and meaningless lives by suicide they do this...The Media should never put the face or say the name of anyone who commits these acts on any media outlet...then maybe they will stop - oh and pass some gun control too!
  • Ryan Chris D 2012/08/09 17:02:24

    How would gun control help?

Do you honestly believe anyone willing to break dozens of laws would obey a law forbiding them to have a specific type of gun?

The issue is just how badly our mental health system is being run. These people have histories of mental issues that somehow are ignored and go unreported.

We need to find these people before the bullets start flying and get them the help they obviously need.

But no the media and all the politicians waste all their time blaming the item used instead of trying to do something that has a chance of actually stopping these attacks before they start.

What's your source for the claim that he was an atheist, other than Pat Robertson's say-so?

Exactly my point. I tried to find a reputable source saying Page was an atheist, and all I found was Pat Robertson being a blowhard, as usual, and blaming atheism for the shooting.

Huge difference. This one seems to be a little more aimed at a given community rather than random people in a theater.

This was a clear hate and racially motivated crime by a psychotic person. My deepest sympathy to the family members of the victims. The Sikhs are peaceful, hard working people who have never tried to proselytize. Not all Sikh men wear turbans or grow their hair. Many have assimilated very well with the local communities and are indistinguishable from other ethnic East Indians.

No, its not common. The media hypes the instances that it happens, but it is far from common, at least in random shootings and murders. With a total of 30,136 firearm-related deaths in the United States; 16,907 (56%) of those deaths were suicides, 11,920 (40%) homicides (including legal intervention/war), and 962 (3%) undetermined/unintentional firearm deaths. More people die each year from the seasonal flu.

Comparably, guns are used 2.5 million times a year in self-defense. Law-abiding citizens use guns to defend themselves against criminals as many as 2.5 million times every year -- or about 6,850 times a day. This means that each year, firearms are used more than 80 times more often to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives.

Of the 2.5 million times citizens use their guns to defend themselves every year, the overwhelming majority merely brandish their gun or fire a warning shot to scare off their attackers. Less than 8% of the time, a citizen will kill or wound his/her attacker.

How about do some research instead of spewing arrogant statements in attempts of mockery? Dozens of witnesses in both these recent shootings are claiming more then one shooter. In Aurora, many claimed seeing another man in the front row get a call then open the back door and wave for someone. The shooter came out of a secret research program with a psychiatrist associated with government mind control programs. If you are not aware of mind control programs, research the CIAs MKULTRA project, a precursor of Operation Paperclip (the CIA operations to bring thousands of Nazi's to the US to work in our govenrment secretly). Other programs include Project Chatter, Project Bluebird and Project Artichoke. These all included mind control and behavior modification experiments, specifically researching the ability to create mind controlled killers/assassins. In this WI temple shooting, the witnesses say there were four armed men dressed in all black. There were also reports of seeing more men prior to the shooting around the area in a suspicious manner. The shooter himseld served in the psychological operations division on the military and apparently continued work after being allegedly released from the army. This is the same scenario we saw with Timothy McVeigh, who was a patsy set up ...

The shooter himseld served in the psychological operations division on the military and apparently continued work after being allegedly released from the army. This is the same scenario we saw with Timothy McVeigh, who was a patsy set up in a covert operation. We have proof he continued working in secret operations after the government claims he left the service. In that case the FBI even murdered local OKC police officers to cover up the case. Terrance Yeakey was one of the officers who complained to his colleages and family that FBI agents were harrassing him and threatening his life after he witnessed them tampering with the crime scene. (He was the first officer to arrive on the scene of the OKC bombing). He was collecting evidence against the FBI and ATF for their involvement in the attack. He called his partner that agents were following him to his evidence locker and he was found hours later tortured to death in a grass field miles away from his blood soaked car. Several of the other officers complained about the same harrassement, and a couple other lives were taken over the course of the investigation. It is one piece of evidence, but a history of events, with knowledge of covert operation procedures, connections, trends, etc that build the case.

"Just another government staged shooting for political gain." I quote you. Accept ownership of what you posted and defend that statement. With proof. Not with opinion. Your refusal to do so relegates you to have zero credibility.
