O so much on the guns. Just the other day I was walking down the street minding my own business and suddenly a hand gun jumped out from the bushes and took a shot at me! And my neighbor was in his own backyard and attacked by a rifle! I'm telling you these guns are getting out of hand? Lock 'em all up and throw away the keys?
The killers? Well, it probably wasn't their fault in the first place. You know, one parent families, they got bullied in school, and they can't afford a cool car. Jeez - it's no wonder! They should be spoken to very firmly, I mean really let them know that we mean business and asked not to do it again.
Next problem!

Another Aurora-type shooting spree may have been prevented by Maryland police. Do you think we should focus on the killers or the guns?
Washington Post reports: "Authorities have taken a man into custody who referred to himself as “a joker” and threatened to shoot people at his former workplace in Prince George’s County, investigators said Friday."

That is sarcasm, in case you don't know.
In a free society, the primary function of the police is to investigate crime, not prevent it. Prevention, so far as it's actually possible deal with a "crime" that hasn't happened yet, is more of a general social function.
The only way to deal with a crime in progress is self-defense. The police can't be everywhere, and even if they could be, who would want that?
And she allegedly KNEW he had major issues and still did not alert authorities he was dangerous because HE has rights.
228 dead in Chicago by ILLEGALLY purchased guns this year.
Until they figure out how to prevent criminals from having illegally owned guns, there is no way in HELL they should retrict legal gun ownership, that is like declaring open season on law abiding citizens as the ones in Chicago are learning the very hard way.
People die from cancer. Should we kill the cancer or the patient?
Why is it that the governments solution to all problems is to work them from the end result, not the problem itself. If a kid doesn't behave in school, give them drugs. Don't try to find out WHY little Johnny can't sit still. If someone is killed by a gun, outlaw the gun and incarcerate the shooter. Wouldn't it make more sense to try to 'fix' the shooter?
Surely by now we have a profile of the kind of person who commits mass murder. They are loners, psychopathic, no empathy, no remorse, no feeling for others, often deeply-suicidal, delusional, out of touch with reality, deeply mentally ill.
I KNOW someone who fits a lot of these traits and believe me, I keep an eye on him!!
The guns are those which need to be clearly restricted.
FEDERAL GRANT despite the fact that he was under psychiatric care, and she never alerted anyone to his issues, so he was clear on his background checks for every weapon he purchased.
