Many of California’s most prominent and well-respected medical cannabis dispensaries and related facilities -- including Oaksterdam University, Berkeley Patients Group, and Harborside Health Center (HHC) -- flourished under the George W. Bush administration. But they’ll be lucky to survive President Barack Obama’s first term. Do you think Barack Obama is tougher on medical marijuana than George W. Bush was?

Making hemp illegal was the major reason for prohibiting marijuana. The big industrialists of the 30s were behind it because hemp was too great a competiton for their industries to succeed if hemp were still in the picture.

It's okay that Obama enjoyed marijuana but he doesn't want the rest of us to enjoy it.

I really don't know, I don't smoke pot. It was never very interesting to me that the dope heads wanted pot to be legal. Naa it cannot be everything is Bush's fault.

there's quite a lot of medical evidence stating that it has medicinal benefits. However this usually amounts to a 'spliff a day'. Rather than what we generally see in well... everyone who smokes pot (it's a diverse group).

That said, I don't smoke pot, but based on the evidence, I support Medicinal Cannabis. Besides, if I support criminalisation of cannabis I think I need to get two product which kill more people per ml and per g than any other drug in the world. Alcohol and Tobacco.

Really though, most people I know who smoke or vape for recreational use dont even use that much, they maybe smoke 2 -3 joints a week or in a month. The hardcore potheads and deadbeats seem to actually be in the minority of users. Casual or average smokers/vapers don't want to make their use publicly known due to stereotyping like that. Now that we have more freedom to proclaim that we smoke pot, since it is more widely accepted, more upstanding people are advocating its use.

Obama didn't do a thing. He ignored pot. It was the beaurocracy that was hard on drug users.
Obama was a major pot smoker himself. If he wanted to do something for marijana he would have flat out legalized it by executive order.

lets just ignore the drug czar he installed, and him claiming that those how use should be jailed, and the ordering of raids of medical marijuana dispensaries; if that's ignoring it then i would hate to see what would happen if he actually payed it some attention.

Who are you calling the "Drug Czar"?!? Since when does the president EVER order minor operations like raiding medical marijuana? I think you just want to blame him because he is the BGIC. There is plenty he is actually doing to vote him out without blaming him for stuff he has nothing to do with.

Seriously, how can ANYONE from California hit disagree?!?!?!?!?! ARE YOU NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT'S HAPPENING IN YOUR OWN STATE?!?!?!?! Even the Progressive news outlets in California are deriding the Fed involvement as an intrusive attack on state's rights because our MMJ initiative actually works! This is another project spearheaded by Holder, so I've just given all the Gunrunner critics another fan to fuel the fire.

In fairness, my current hometown of Costa Mesa (GOP Run) called the Feds to break up the dispensaries here and then cried "Obama's fault" until they were exposed for it. I don't think anyone in Oakland is voting for the Right any time soon, though.

Nah, we aren't smogged out like San Bernardino (Dem), broke like Stockton (Dem), or making bad land deals like Mammoth Lakes (GOP). I don't know why conservatives are so anti-California. If they want the political climate to change, just wait. Orange County used to be a liberal stronghold until they declared bankruptcy in 1994. They've been conservative (with libertarian leanings) ever since.

Conservatives are anti-California because we see what is happening out there, and are [ very ] afraid that it will happen to the rest of the country, also.... that the saying " As goes California, so goes the country " is till true, even if not heard as often....

Its quite obvious. Obama has accelerated most of Bush's policies, that includes more raids on medical marijuana dispensaries.

At most, he might pretend to support Medical Marijuana, but we all know how much he loves to pretend to be on the people's side, but isnt at all.

On the political quizzes, ' Where do you place ' ? I usually score wayyy to the right on fiscal matters, but dead center on social matters; thinking that what people do is their business, as long as I don't have to pay for it....however, it is becoming apparent that the personal choices that people make have huge down-stream social costs, and are indeed my business...voluntary single-motherhood being a prime example...

On all tests I score 100% libertarian. Everyone has the right to live however they wish and to make their own choices unencumbered by restrictions, prohibitions and mandates (unless one or more of those choices violates the unalienable rights of another person).

True. When someone doesn't feel pressured not to do something they often don't. Exactly why I think everything should be legal. No gangs, no drug related violence anymore than alcohol related violence, and it wouldn't be 'cool' to do drugs.
