Being that Nick has been critically ill and hospitalized a few times recently, I think the marital vows renewal by the couple is both a meaningful and beautiful testimony of their commitment to each other. Life is fleeting and true love is rare therefore, both are worth celebrating whenever possible. Best Wishes and Congratulations to the happy couple. May you have many more blissful years together and never take each other for granted. :)

Do you have to be reminded every year that you're married? I can see doing it for a 25th anniversary or some really special anniversary, but every year seems as though they're trying to convince themselves or others that they're really married.

I am so sorry to hear such a tragic thing happened to you and your wife but I am certain that you two embraced your commitment to each other whenever possible and that is all that matters. We can not afford as humans to take even a single second for granted as this life is far too fragile. As most of us who have lost a dear one knows, tomorrow is not promised to any of us and it such a sad truth. My condolences on your loss.

I would have voted Romantic, but I've seen more than a couple of marriages where the couple renewed their vows, and by a year later were divorced. It would seem to be a very romantic gesture ("I'd marry you all over again"), but somehow I get the feeling that it very often happens after there's serious trouble in the marriage.
