Manners; a thing of the past or not? What do you think?

It might be just me, but I find that people just don't really have manners like they did when I was growing up. You have kids running up and down grocery aisles opening things, and if anyone says anything to the parents, rather than be thankful, they get defensive or worse. If I did that when I was a kid, I would most definitely regret it later. All it took was the "look" and we did not touch anything that wasn't ours.

Some people just take and don't say "Thank you" and/or demand favors without "please" beforehand. This is about adults too; so sad. Adults that also take the "handicapped" parking spot when they aren't handicapped and have no placards. It's stuff like that and more.

I wonder what you all think; are manners just obsolete? Manners a thing of the past or not What do you think
You!

Sadly, for many, yes. but I hope as they grow up, they will get a clue...fortunately, I have not run across many young ones who have little or no manners....Good manners are important in life, and the gateway to a better life...

You are lucky. I think manners also show how civilized a society is, and to see adults no showing manners either is even worse! Thanks for sharing!

In my home, manners are alive and well. My children are very polite and well-behaved in public. Of course, they have naughty moments but manners are very important to me.

You are welcome, keep up the good work, they will thank you for it some day....I always hoped I was being successful in the teaching of manners, and felt extra good
when someone would comment on how well behaved my kids were when we were out in a social situation....and you know, it made them feel good about themselves too, which certainly reinforces your teachings....:D
